Sorry but you asked for it. I think that your match making will not succeed not only because it copies tf2lobby (which is crap anyways), but there are not so many players in this community. Take for example ETF2L. The pug channels are already implemented and people got used to them, so a switch to a different method of playing pugs wouldn’t be that welcomed.

Check pug2 or pixelpug. And lets say that there are a certain number of players in this community that are constantly infront of their PC playing TF2. If you check the pug statistics, you will see that there are lesser pugs every day (except weekends when you will see the same 12-15 people adding for 3 hours straight) even tho there are a million players in the channel who are just afk, or will delete because nothing is going on.

P.S: As being more mature than you, I tried to be the one who takes a step and help you by telling you the outcome. I couldn’t care less if you ban me. I can get to play with the people I want without using a random web-site.

Answer to remix: I am banned because he thinks I have destroyed his very successful website, while other people did it (and his own hand). If you can’t upgrade your PHPMyAdmin password properly, let someone else do it for you (else your whole webpage will go blank like last time).

I dont think many people understand, he isnt locking it for specific countries. If you want you can make a nation specific lobby for the country only, it would make sense for comms and such. Then it would not lower the userbase it would actually increase it since non english speakers can sign up and play which is what most other lobbies/pugs dont have.

This is totally off, IRC is outdated and not noob-friendly – sure it works telling to the ones already in the community, but telling a team that has never used IRC before to get it.. jeeeeeezzzzz. Making something like this, and make it work could mean that the pubbers find it easier getting into the competative community and, well bring in more players.
And if it is country specific or region specific (scandi?) then maybe it would make the pubbers in a specific country feel more welcome to play with people that they can talk with in their first language.

You missed my entire point. He was talking about how he is going to implement the data from the ETF2L divisions, so it recognizes players by the division, steam, etc. And as we are talking about ETF2L here, I can bet that more than 70%-80% of the players know how to use IRC and the pug system, so that’s why I said that people won’t bother switching from pug2 or pixel to another pug system. But if you are talking about the new players that come to ETF2L, or the 20% of players who don’t have a clue what IRC is, maybe it will help them.

There is actually something useful in which this “Match Making” project can be implemented in (not as a “pug” website), but I am not going to talk about it, as I don’t want to encourage the original idea.

Hell, I’m willing to throw in some monies just so you can get a coder, a decent one, who makes it possible.

MP sponsors ETF2L, MP has pickup channels. Just needs more presence on etf2l.

This is really the crux of what bothered me about the highlander thing. There’s no point pandering to the lowest common denominator, I (and you as well remember defur) both found our way to etf2l 6v6 from public servers totally by seeing a game mode that looked interesting, then putting some work into it.
