Highlander Season 11 powered by Tt eSPORTS: Map Pool and Whitelist

The map pool for Highlander Season 11 powered by Tt eSPORTS will be as follows, the changes from season 10 are that pl_barnblitz has been removed with koth_warmtic_rc4 and koth_coalplant_b7 added. This will mean that one of the weeks in the season will consist of two king of the hill maps.
- Week 1: pl_upward
- Week 2: cp_gullywash_final1 + koth_lakeside_final
- Week 3: pl_borneo
- Week 4: koth_coalplant_b7 + cp_process_final
- Week 5: cp_steel
- Week 6: koth_warmtic_rc4 + koth_product_rc8
- Week 7: pl_badwater
The whitelist for the Season can be found here. The changes from Season 10 are the addition of the phlogistiator and the removal of the dead ringer and the short circuit.
This map pool and whitelist will be used in the preseason playoffs as well as the regular season.

Banning DR but not Razorback. Double KOTH and coalplant in the rotation. Probably the worst decisions that have been made in HL so far tbh, all on the advice of high players too.

I think the whitelist and map pool are an improvement on last season for sure and think the admin team has been putting a lot of effort into this season, more so than normal

Its good that etf2l is trying to switch things up a bit. I feel like razorback should be banned at least to check out if its gonna change certain holds, where sniper is the only class, which can counter other sniper, or not. When spy couldnt backstab him, the only way to bully sniper used to be dr + amby. Imo there is a correlation between dr and rb. The problem is that cozy camper nerf close a good option to replace rb.

Don’t worry, Lazy, Inso was already the best Inviswatch spy around. Remember when he took it upon himself, unprompted, just to practice with the DR and Ambassador and improved himself to the point where he was peerless? And then switched to sniper and was the best on that class too? What a man…nay, what a god.
He also has some sick high scores on Orcs Must Die. Legendary gamer, glad to see him back.

dead ringer was fine, razorback deserved a ban 100x more (and even then I’d have been fine to keep it allowed)

Sniper is arguably the strongest class in HL (even more so in NA, where the meta revolves even more around him). By removing the DR, you are lessening the harassment potential of Gun Spies to counteract that.
Further, by NOT banning Razorback you are not increasing the other possible counter against Snipers, stabbing them. And don’t tell me “ah, just kill him with your gun”. This is not viable when the whole combo is protecting him. With a banned Razorback at least suicide picks would be a possibility to open opportunities for your team.
Heh, and all this coming from a Spy main who hardly uses DR anyway.
So, in short, Sniper was buffed tremendously.
The Plat council last season wanted to ban both razorback and dead ringer but Kumomori only wanted to ban one.

The map is narrower and the area outside of mid is slightly larger, allowing faster rotations and stops the stupid flank shit you get on ashville because of how wide it is.
I know we’re all talking about DR and razorback but I would like to mention THE POMSON IS ALLOWED
I wrote a bit serious post on ETF2L Consultation thread, but it got lost and I lost all my data – I still don’t understand what rule is broke other than it was a place for the community to voice their displeasure over a decision taken (ie the kind of things admins should be reading and considering not censoring).
But I want to make a point about consulting with team leaders and letting a vote decide the unlocks. ETF2L has historically produced it’s most unpopular whitelists when they had community votes, it has historically produced it’s most popular whitelists (albeit popular with this community is only 100 people out of 10,000 whine) when they have consulted with various higher level players (though I think all levels deserve consultation, but try not to consult Russians) and taken their arguments, then made executive decisions on what to ban. This does mean that someone’s opinion isn’t taken into account but only because you, the admin feel this was the best argument given. Therefore you are giving an executive decision as an admin team, based upon the best arguments/evidence/ideas brought up – Kind of like what a Leader does – The problem with voting and using this method is the community is so divided in opinion, one popular aspect is not necessarily the best aspect (especially for Prem) for the scene. There was a point where Vanilla + Medlocks was the most popular aspect (especially amongst Prem) and it is clear today that if they had gotten their way we’d see a totally different type of TF2 with two soldiers having shotgun and 100’s items banned (Highlander would probably be x2 more popular than 6v6, that’s how bad an idea it was) and the league suffered (mainly from PR points of view) in the short term but longer term the right decision was made.
The vote on unlocks for Prem or “Potential Prem” teams ia always going to be tactical, you cannot give a whitelist for 80 teams to be decided by leaders from the top teams simply because they are voting tactically. If Highpander played this season I would vote to ban the DR as well, I don’t think it’s unbalanced or broken, not do I particularly hate the weapon but Grenjabob, our spy last few seasons does not use the DR and Toast, the spy from Strong Opinions (the team to beat at the moment) uses it 95-99% of the time. By voting to ban this, I gain for my team a tactical advantage, I do not think about what is right for the scene, only what is right for my team. This is not just for DR, this could apply for any weapon, like when Hartz used the Beggars, I could have voted to ban it if the whitelist was decided by this method back in Season 8 or whenever because Zoob (My soldier) did not use it and one of our rivals Soldier’s (Hartz from Fair Enough) did. And the best thing for me as a leader is my vote is worth around 9-10% of the vote, so voting favourably for my team will be easier.
The other thing it does is lower the skill level as a lot of spy players who spent 100’s hours practising using the DR now have to change their style of play to use the other watches. From a player point of view, not having the DR means things are more predictable for spies, which makes the game easier for other classes, which makes the skill level lower. The game being easy is fine and all that, but make it too easy and Premtech might actually win something.
I am disappointed with this method of deciding the whitelist – I won’t go into a debate about this weapon vs that weapon, half the stuff I have read on these comments have given me cancer anyway, I just want you (the admins) to understand why I disagree and hopefully reconsider your decision.
Hildreth, when it comes to your 4th section. The skill level will not be lower cause the ban is for dr and not amby. You cannot possibly think that banning something that lets spies get away from every bad sitation lower the skill level here.
The result will be opposite imo. Gun spies will have to think more about their positioning and realize if they’re getting focused by someone and plan ahead.

The removal of the predominant spy playstyle will lower spy play level for at least a few weeks and most likely a season, because of the time needed to adapt.
The removal of DR will make spy more predictable thus making it easier for the rest to play around, lowering the overall skill ceiling in that area.
