Playoffs & Prize Money

Thanks to our Indiegogo campaign we managed to get over 3.000€ through crowd funding which allows us to provide the biggest total prize pool as well as the biggest prize pool for the Premier Division to date. A total of 4.080€ will be spread among the best teams of each Tier. Thank you to everyone that contributed.

Premier Division

The Season 20 powered by Tt eSPORTS Grand Finals will take place on March 29th with the following schedule:

Semi Final: 19:00CET European Ze Knutsson Rollerbladers vs European Se7en

Grand Final: 21:15CET European SUAVE vs Winner of the Semi Final

The teams are fighting for a total prize pool of 3.000€! with the following distribution:

1st1500€ / 250€ per player

2nd900€ / 150€ per player

3rd600€ / 100€ per player

High Tier

For the High Tier we decided to go with the system we used when the Premier Division Playoffs included four teams.

Round 1: March 22nd-March 25th European 1000 poops of the poopocalypse vs Finland Lutuset

Round 2: March 26th-March 31st Jamaica prtyboiz vs European 1000 poops of the poopocalypse

Final: April 1st-April 5th European ELOGURL vs European 1000 poops of the poopocalypse

The teams are fighting for a total prize pool of 720€ distributed among the top 3 teams:

1st360€ / 60€ per player

2nd216€ / 36€ per player

3rd144€ / 24€ per player

Mid Tier

For the Mid Tier we are going to use a modified version that was suggested by Netherlands TimTum during the last Fully Charged Europe episode:

Round 1.1: March 22nd-March 24th Austria TURNUP vs European Dodging Bullets

Round 1.2: March 22nd-March 24th Latvia International Oral Sex vs European mid high

Round 2.1: March 25th-March 29th Luxembourg B-HAVE vs European Dodging Bullets

Round 2.2: March 25th-March 29th European Iso-G vs European mid high

Semi Final 1: March 30th-April 1st Austria Gamsjaga eSports vs European Dodging Bullets

Semi Final 2: March 30th-April 1st Germany Lemmings vs European Iso-G

Final: April 2nd-April 5th Winner of Semi Final 1 vs Winner of Semi Final 2

The teams are fighting for a total prize pool of 270€ distributed among the top 3 teams:

1st135€ / 22,50€ per player

2nd81€ / 13,50€ per player

3rd54€ / 9€ per player

Open Tier

We will be handling the playoffs for the Open Tier the same way we handled it for Season 19. Each team’s leader will be contacted by Germany Sonny Black through Steam to submit their availability. The teams will then be matched by their seed and their availability. The playoffs will take place between March 22nd and April 5th, due to this fairly tight schedule each eligible team that wants to participate in the playoffs should be able to play at least 2 matches per week. Beside the top 14 teams in Open Russia candy sticks and Hungary Gibusztalan Spam Fest! will fill place 15 and 16. This was decided based on their Sonneborn Berger rating.

The teams are fighting for a total prize pool of 90€ distributed among the top 3 teams:

1st45€ / 7,50€ per player

2nd27€ / 4,50€ per player

3rd18€ / 3€ per player

Additionally we are trying to turn what we received in item donations into keys, to ensure a somewhat evenly spread distribution for the top 3 Open Tier teams.

Still don’t get why we have rewards for open and mid, 29 teams in high would’ve benefitted infinitely more from playing in mid or open than where they belong. Promoting sandbagging and rewarding bad performance, but w/e.

I’m sure everyone wants to play at a lower skill level just so they can get, at most €22.50 per person for over 2 months of time put in….

The teams didnt know if there was any money in for them if they played in Open, Mid or even High (although the likelihood in High is fairly obvious). We only said we would try and never, until this point, mentioned any definite amount.
Additionally where do you think all that money came from? Players from Prem and High are accountable for 22,1% of the total sum, while players from Mid and Open donated 31,9%, with the remaining 46% spread among players without a S20 team (26,9%), players who never played in ETF2L (8,5%), Archimedes Cup players (7,3%) and unknwon (3,2%).
I think it is only fair to share some of the money with tiers that usually dont get any money. We already have the highest payout ever in Prem and the winner of High will get more than the 2nd place of Prem in any of the last seasons. So I dont think anyone can complain here.

Yeah okay due to the fundraiser I guess that makes sense. Just hoping this doesn’t become a trend.

    1.2 Playoffs and Tiebreakers

    […]

Teams tied for the […] the playoff spots in their respective Tier will be split using the following methods.

    Head-to-Head record (If applicable)
    Sonneborn Berger Score
    Rounds scored

If the first method does not split the teams, the second method will be used. If the second method does not split the teams, the third method will be used.

How are we supposed to break a 9-way-tie for two spots? Especially given the time frame. :D

    thats funny

when i suggested using challonge i was laughed upon
    http://etf2l.org/forum/feedback/topic-30613/page-8/#post-527479

and then when i bring the idea ,that was brought up on fullycharged, a day before playoffs to make high a 6/8 team playoff seed like the one used now, i get laughed upon and dismissed as it would be “too much to handle and give teams that don’t deserve the spot get it”

lol jackylegs, theyre not using challonge as a tournament bracket its just used to show how the playoff structure is visualized. every season with pre-season playoffs we use challonge so people can picture how playoffs will work

    nice try though

Open playoffs at the easter weekend? I could imagine that might pose issues, especially for players attending Gamers Assembly or Insomnia.
