One Night Cup: Sunshine – That’s a wrap!

Date January 31, 2014

Wrapping up

The Sunshine Cup has been a great success. We received 57 signups, which is quite a good number for a mid-season cup. The cup night itself progressed smoothly without any major hickups or delays.

Feedback

Obviously, the goal of this cup was to gather feedback about cp_sunshine. Let us know how you experienced the map, what needs improvement and what should stay as it is. Please share your thoughts with us and map maker UnitedStates phi by posting in this thread!

Results

Last but not least, here is an overview of the results:

Congratulations to all of you, and thanks to everyone for signing up!

what div3 team doing in medium bracket?
    just interesting

Assuming you are referring to Husholdningssaft, going by their players’ 6v6 match history, they are not a div3 team. They have 3 div3 players and 4 div5 players (I judged by most recent finished season, so S16). This meant I had them estimated at a div5/4 level. The High bracket only had Div 4 and higher in it (so they were right on the border – if we had one less Div 4 team to sign up, Husholdningssaft would have been in the High bracket).

Bear in mind that it’s pretty difficult to create brackets of 16 teams, when you have 57 signups of all sorts of skill levels. Especially when some of those aren’t established teams, and also include Fun teams (who, I asssume, do not practise 6v6 together as much as a normal 6v6 team would).

Next time we’ll be more thorough, and also look at HL experience for example.

The sand-bagging that always occurs in these One-Night Cups is ridiculous and has always been happening.
Im not saying it’s easy to actually determine which skill level for example a fun-team belongs to, but this isn’t the first time this has happened, or second time, or third; you get the idea.

That just goes to confirm how difficult it is to estimate a team’s skill level, if anything.

Did this get casted? Any STV demos from this?

I was interested in casting it live but other stuff came up. If there are demos I’d love to cast some of em.

It didn’t get casted eXtine, you could ask the teams in the final if they could give you an STV though: http://etf2l.org/matches/47097/

I have 2 STV demos from the high bracket, one was a 5-0 but this was a much better game: http://stv.colonslash.eu/9_tezc2/2014-01-29-20-49-blu_vs_nostak-cp_sunshine_b2.dem.bz2

I have no idea if there actually is a SourceTV demo for the finals, since the enemy team asked us to play on a server that they got from ETF2L.

All the demo’s are always automatically uploaded to http://files.etf2l.org/demos/

That’s a useful link kKaltUu, but for this case I don’t see any demos on Sunshine in there :/

  14. .Selo said:

Same here. I think it was played on a FakkelBrigade server, if that’s any useful.
