The Provisional Divisions

The signup count for Season 15 powered by BlackOut Gaming is 312 teams with a few on the waiting list to compensate early drops. The divisions are still subject to change, there is no guarantee for anyone except those teams who earned promotion or stayed comfortably in the middle of their division.

Provisional Divisions

If you are not happy with the division that your team has been placed in, please contact an admin in IRC as soon as possible. Keep in mind that much like during the signup process, you must provide evidence of your ability to perform at the level of the division you wish to enter. This means, at minimum, a screenshot album displaying performance of your team against other similar-skilled teams. These pictures can be taken from PCWs, scrims, cups, other leagues and so on.

The divisions will be finalized and divided into groups on Sunday night.

Reminder: Every team with less than 6 players by May 5th may get replaced. So make sure you have enough players in your roster and also make sure that everyone has their SteamID entered.

Qualifiers

Much like in the previous two seasons, we had more applications than slots for our two top divisions. Because it worked so well in the past and to give you all some pre-season TF2 action, we will again host qualifiers for the Premiership Division and Division 1.

One spot is up for grabs in the Premiership Division. European Furbo Pandas , Russia Last Man Standing and European Revoluzion la metagame will compete for this one slot in a Round Robin style tournament (2 matches à 2 maps each). You can play these matches from Sunday 28th – Wednesday 1st (Thursday 2nd is reserved for a tie-breaker if needed) The team with most points joins the big boys in the Premiership Division, the 2nd and 3rd team enter Division 1.

In Division 1, two spots are up for grabs. This means, only the loser of the Round Robin style qualifier between European d-d-Did I Stutter?, England feenix and EnglandGermany Trick17 Black goes down to Division 2 and the other two teams get a shot to prove themselves in Division 1.

Map Update: cp_process

Scorpio Uprising has released an updated version of his map cp_process. In any Season 15 officials, teams will have to use the new version cp_process_rc3. Get it here!

Statement regarding Third Party Plugins

From now on, any third party client plugins that alter any game variables are banned in ETF2L, and their continued use will be will be treated as cheating. Server-side plugins that have gameplay-altering functionality can only be used if said functionality is disabled. Loading third party plugins on servers that change game settings to unusual values may lead to major warnings and forfeit losses (and possibly bans too?).

An exception from this rule is the plugin TFTrue by France AnAkkk. Using a server that allows higher FOV values is allowed if, and only if both teams agree. The hosting team must inform the visiting team about the increased FOV before the match starts.

Can you please define ‘game variables’? For example, is a stripped down version of OpenPlugin acceptable? (just the transparent viewmodels, for example)

Great position on fov imo, although we’ll have to see how many people refuse just to be dicks to the other team.

Long story short, the only client-side plugin that is still allowed is P-Rec. Plugins that alter FOV, picmip or viewmodel transparency are no longer allowed. Huds and configs are unaffected.

While we sympathize with the goals behind the plugins affected by this ruleset, we cannot agree with the means by which they are achieved – client-side plugins explicitly outlawed by the game’s developer. We also do not want to see any of our players pay for these plugins’ convenience with a VAC ban (or use them as an excuse).

  4. Casual: prtyboiz - T⑨ said:

Ok then why not say that? “we’re banning every third party client side plugins except P-REC” instead of implying you’d allow a certain category of plugins (viewmodel transparency certain does not meet your qualifications of a ‘gameplay variable’).

and maybe add a line where people can get new plugins approved (as Valve has no intention of ever allowing any other plugin ever). Imagine a world where plugins have always been banned, then P-REC would never have been made.

I have no idea why Valve haven’t put viewmodel transparency in the game. No one would even argue about it.

still no koth cfg for viaduct??

Thank you, can we close the plugin topics on the forums now?

I’m still going to use whatever OpenPlugin gives me 110 fov in non-etfl2 matches until Valve wake up and allow it. So keep topics open, imo.

well, hopefully i was playing with a tiny fov100, it won’t be very hard to re-adapt

Am i the only one wondering why vinland doesn’t play playoffs ? Because there’s more prem players in revoluzion (actually all of them already played in prem) but not vinland.

Regarding vinland’s direct spot in the Premiership:
A 3 team qualifier for 1 spot is easier to organise and takes less time than a fair 4 team qualifier for 2 spots. ETF2L can only run leagues (round robin style) or single elimination tournaments. A round robin 4 team qualifier would take 4 days + 1 day for possible tie breakers and a single elimination tournament for 2 spots would simply not be fair.
vinland got the direct spot mainly because they were the only team that could show off a win against a current top 3 team.

“A 3 team qualifier for 1 spot is easier to organise and takes less time than a fair 4 team qualifier for 2 spots.”

So what you really said was: “We are too lazy to do it properly, so we imply that its better to handpick based on a screenshot instead of pure versus”

Sure thing, its not like I expected more from etf2l than this. (Aswell as less, since its not possible)

  23. CanFo: (Legend) - [HA] - #T4F said:

What I really said was “We do not want to burden the teams in the qualifiers with an extra match day this week”. A single elimination tournament for 2 spots would have been unfair. A 4 team round robin + possible tie breaker might force two teams to play Sunday – Thursday with only one evening off. With this solution, they have one more evening off.
