Team Colonslash Cup #1: Mid-cup updates!

First of all, we want to apologise to the teams that signed up but weren’t given a chance to play. We encountered some technical difficulties with regards to the seeding. We had reserved some time for preparations but everything took longer than anticipated. For the next TC cup and cups on ETF2L in general, we will make sure we have sorted out the seedings at least one day before the cup starts and that we aren’t understaffed during the cup.

We also received a lot of complaints from teams about being in the wrong bracket. Our news posts had this covered by the “admin discretion” rule. For what it’s worth, the general rule of thumb we used was something along the lines of “if a team has a player with division 3 or higher match history in a recent season, they go to the higher bracket”. We also want to emphasise again that this cup was initially intended to focus only teams in division 4 and below. The only reason we later introduced a higher bracket was because the community had requested it. Had we not done this, the teams that were moved to the higher bracket would not have been allowed to play at all.

Fortunately, there is also good news. The cup went relatively well for the teams that did get to play. Most of the games were played on time and managed to keep to the schedule. The following teams have made it to the round of 8 of the prize winning lower bracket:

These teams will continue their progression in the lower bracket Thursday 4 April from 20.00 CEST onwards.

We’d like to remind the finalists that the cup finals will be held on Sunday 7 April, 20.00 CEST, with the ETF2L Premiership finals being scheduled for tomorrow (more on that later!). If you are in the finals after tomorrow, and you cannot play sunday, please contact an admin! Bear in mind also that there will be a playoff match for the semi-final losers to determine the third place.

Meanwhile, the marginally smaller High bracket has already seen the finals played, where European Fenneks eSports have fallen victim to Germany vier // red. The pixel trophies will be handed out when both brackets are wrapped up.

we asked to be placed in the higher bracket, were denied this opportunity, and then disqualified for being too good?

not only do you ruin the tournament for us, you ruined it for the other teams that we played against, and essentially fixed it to suit your own needs. why

If this is true then it’s the admin’s fault.

Somehow i am not suprised… i just got told i’m not allowed to play in the finale bacause i played div3 in season 6. Havent really played tf2 at all since then. Only started up again like 2 months ago. The scout partner i had for the last 2 games outscored me in any way and he is div4. Guess this “if a team has a player with division 3 or higher match history in a recent season, they go to the higher bracket” doesnt mean anything at all because i sure as hell wouldn’t call 8 seasons ago recent. gj finding that shit out so late when we get all the way to the finale.
