Provisional Divisions
Yes folks! It’s that time already. Whip out your monocles, magnifying glasses and fine-tooth combs and peruse the Provisional Divisions for ETF2L Season 14 powered by Twitch. As the provisional tag suggests, these divisions may be subject to change between now and Monday.
If you are not happy with the division that your team has been placed in, please contact an admin in IRC as soon as possible. Keep in mind that much like during the signup process, you must provide evidence of your ability to perform at the level of the division you wish to enter. This means, at minimum, a screenshot album displaying performance of your team against other similar-skilled teams. These pictures can be taken from PCWs, scrims, cups, other leagues and so on.
The divisions will be finalized and divided into groups on Sunday night.
Premiership Qualifiers
By now you will have given in to the urge to look at the Provisional Divisions. There’s no shame in it. You are only human. The superhuman amongst you may have noticed that everything is not settled in the Premier Division and Division 1. You should probably consider joining the rest of the superhumans on the ETF2L Admin Staff, but first allow me to elucidate.
Two spots were originally up for grabs in the Premier Division. The first went to broder but the recipient of the second was not so clear cut. So in the interests of fairness and bloody entertainment we will be pitting four Premiership hopefuls against each other in a Single Elimination best-of-three tournament taking place on Monday 14th January from 20:00CET onwards.
The selected teams for the Premier Division qualifiers are
For the Premiership qualifiers, teams must submit the official nicknames for their rostered players, that will be used both in the qualifiers and the rest of the season as per the old-new rule 1.10.2 Premiership players need to use their real nicknames.
Division 1 Qualifiers
Now exactly how to handle which teams would make it in to Division 1 proved to be a little bit of a head scratcher. Seven teams are guaranteed their spot in Division 1 either through avoiding relegation or earning promotion in Season 13, leaving one spot for the taking. However, with AVENUE eSports and PyRo|GEN currently entitled to a Division 1 spot, there may be a second spot available if they secure promotion through the Premiership Qualifier.
On the other side of the fence we have three teams with an eye on a place in Division 1, yet not guaranteed a spot and thus will be required to earn their right to compete through a Division 1 Qualifier
Aha! The plot thickens. Yes you read that correctly. Not only are logs.tf and The Potentials fighting to prove their worth in the Premier Division, they may also have to contest their place in Division 1. Our wickedness knows no bounds…
So the Division 1 Qualifier will either be a straight best-of-three game between OutSiders and logs.tf or The Potentials on Wednesday 16th January, or a round robin featuring all three teams over three consecutive nights 15th-17th January. In the event of a tied round robin, capture point difference, total points captured and pistols at dawn will be used to rank teams; so don’t give away any cheap caps, chaps.
Remember, maps for these upcoming Qualifiers will be decided through the new Loser’s Pick system implemented for Season 14 powered by Twitch.
