i42, ESH and some General Reminders
April 30, 2011
i42 LAN
Many thanks to those who attended i42, especially to Tapley and the rest of the TF2 admin team there. The top 3 TF2 teams were:
Infused.Tt
Team Thermaltake
Children of Poop
Infused took a surprisingly comprehensive victory over their Thermaltake companions to win the top prize of £1,350. Other highlights included an incredible game on viaduct between Intensive Noobs and mixteam Flanks* and Gamesense, going right down to the wire. VODs of both of those games and more can be found at tf2tv.com.
Tickets are now on sale for the next Multiplay LAN, i43, set for August 26-29. Currently tickets are available at a 20% discount, though not for long! More details can be found here.
The latest offering from ESH
Signups are still open for the Tt eSPORTS TF2 Challenge, for a chance to win $500! Tt eSPORTS “went huge” at i42, with both of their sponsored teams reaching the TF2 final, now they want to give us some of their free money for free! Check out the rules page here, then go here to sign your team up! Do it!
General Reminders
SCHEDULE AND PLAY YOUR WEEK 5 MATCHES! It is in fact time to start scheduling your week 6 matches too! This newspost is so late that it’s even time to think about your week 7 matches!
Turbine rules reminder
We’ve noticed quite a few teams struggling with our rules for ctf_turbine_pro. These rules can be found in the General Rule 4.8
Turbine is not played in a “Best of 3, timelimit 10” format in ETF2L. The ctf ruleset for ETF2L has been designed to reduce the odds of a draw to a minimum.
The regular etf2l.cfg sets the server variable “tf_flags_per_round” to “5” and the timelimit to 30 minutes.
You need to capture 5 flags in one round to score a point. If a team scores 2 points, that team wins. In order to stop the game when one team scored 2 points, you can set “mp_winlimit” to “2”.
In case both teams have an equal amount of points on the scoreboard when the timelimit is reached, the team with more flag captures in the final round wins. In that case, you need to submit 2 screenshots: One of the scoreboard showing that the teams are tied and one where you can see the amount of captured flags.
In the rare case that the amount of captured flags in the final round is equal as well, you have to play a golden cap round. Set “mp_timelimit” to “0” and “tf_flags_per_round” to “3“. The first team to capture 3 flags, wins the golden cap round.
Only tick the golden cap box if the latter happened. You will have to submit 3 screenshots if you played a golden cap on turbine: One of the scoreboard showing that the teams are tied, one where you can see the amount of captured flags and one screenshot with the golde cap round score.
(Sadly) a Ban
The player Lukas will be banned from now until the end of the season for abusing the leader rights of another team.
We’d like to clarify further confusion regarding the ban of ForzaEagLE and co., which looked like it would expire this weekend. Their ban was for the whole of Season 9, so the bans will be extended up to that point.
Wildcarded/Unplayed Matches
Some of you may have noticed Default Dates appearing on wildcarded matches. We will add a Default Date to a wildcarded match one week after the wildcard was taken, if the match is still unscheduled. We hope this will reduce the number of matches left unplayed until the catch-up week.
We will also give warnings to any matches which haven’t been played or scheduled after the Match Deadline has passed. These warnings can be easily removed once the match has been played, provided you contact us at that point.
*Thanks ilike2spin!
Nice simple Turbine rules!
lol’d Lukas :D
Is it me or do those turbine rules sound horrible compared to what every other tourny uses atm?
Perhaps I just misunderstood though.
FLANKS and gamesense!
how are they horrible, all you need to do is play.
if you set mp_winlimit 2 you dont even need to think about it. just stop playing when the game finishes.
The turbine rules seem needlessly confusing considering that every other league and tournament using Turbine used almost exactly the same rules until now. No worries though, i understand it a little better now you guys took the time to explain it in more detail. ^^
Well, if (for example) we won the 1st round of turbine and then played the 2nd one in a draw (or on the contrary, w/e), do we have to play a golden cup afterwards?
Everything is more confusing in words. If someone can do a better job, please do so.
timelimit 30
winlimit 2 (rounds)
flags per round 5 (so 5-0/1/2/3/4 in flags => 1-0 in rounds)
When the time limit is reached:
Team with the most rounds wins
If rounds are equal:
Team with the most flags in the current round* wins
*(ie. not the total number of flags over all rounds)
If rounds and flags are equal:
New round, timelimit 0
First team to capture 2 flags wins <- The ONLY way to earn a gc win/loss
I think that covers it.
Ok, does it mean that we have to play a golden cup whenever we have a drawn round?
It seems a bit unfair since if we (as I said in my last post) win 1 round and play the 2nd in a draw, and after this all we lose the gc – we lose the map.
And after recounting it appears that either of both teams has 1 win and 1 draw.
Clark Kent that doesn’t make any sense. If you are 1-0 up in rounds and the time limit ends, you win. It sounds to me like you’re still playing the bo3 timelimit 10 rules.
Please !admin in irc if you’re still unsure.
Crasp: Listing it in server commands was more useful than anything, if you give people the server commands then the game will end when its supposed to.

I told Lukas to report this bug to admin or he will be punished, but twat never listen. h3h3h3h3h3h3h3h3h3h3h3h3h3
ohhhh i’,m banned :D
Beats the shit out of ESL rules for turbine, fuck me there were different rules for different scenarios until we had the problem and had to explain/discuss with admins for 4 hours one evening…
Thank the lord they have now been editted.
