SteelSeries Season 9 Prizes

As of yesterday, the sign-up stage for The ETF2L SteelSeries Season 9 has ended, over 365 teams have signed up in just one week. Teams that haven’t signed up but are interested can still sign up to the waiting list in case there is room in a division, due to for example drops.
ETF2L would once again like to give a huge thanks to SteelSeries who have been generous enough to put forward the following prizes for Season 9:

In the style of Season 8 and in partnership with Valve, all participants of Season 9 will receive an in-game medal to show off their efforts! Coming first, second or third in your division will earn you a gold, silver or bronze medal respectively. We haven’t forgotten about the medals promised to you in Season 8 either; the technology required to give them out will be released by Valve soon.
And more :
Three sets of posters signed by Valve staff will be up for grabs for 3 teams that prove themselves to be awesome in season 9. The requirements for qualifying as awesome, and hopefully winning the posters, will be published soon.
Finally, we officially announce that 
BuffaloBill has departed from the admin team. Many thanks for the time and effort you put into the league and helping us out, Bill. We wish you all the best.

Also I dunno why xzr is feeling it necessary to comment on everything because he disapproves of the league. I mean we will miss Epsilon, we will miss Dignitas and we’ll miss Power but the way xzr has been putting himself about, not many will miss Refuse. (Nothing against the rest of the team).

Last season was quite slow with signups, 360 was reached in the last days.
Quite impressive bearing in mind that a lot of teams certainly booked esl.
Shame that you can’t have the sameprize pot than last season.

Steelseries take advantage of the ETF2L.
Basically the same prizes season on season despite the growth.
Serious lack of ambition amongst ETF2L admins.
As I understand it there is no concerted effort to seek out sponsorship etc.
Obviously you are all volunteers and I am not trying to belittle your efforts, but it is just another example of why supporting an established player in eSports like ESL makes sense.
Prizes are nice and all, but I imagine the winners already have decent headsets, mice and mouse mats that they’re comfortable with.

@admirable, There is a team tasked with sponsorship (people are free to apply if they think it needs improvement) and we’ve always supported tournaments/lans such as ESH (who bring in great cups that really deserve more attention).

How will ETF2L make up for the 5 missing spaces? Will premium be a 5 team table (if you have enuff) or will you promote div1 teams to premium?
of course it cant be Refuse ( relegated ) as they didnt sign up or Giants (neither did they) from div1 ?
just make prem smaller rather than fill it with teams that aren’t prem teams.
What do u mean there are not any prem teams? If they leave they leave. they would still need replacing, it will just be a new look prem with new teams.
if for example a prem team (like portsmouth last season) didnt find owners and went of business even if they didnt get relegated they wouldnt make the prem 19 teams would they?
ETF2L’s prem division is for the TOP 10 teams that sign upto ETF2L. If 4/5 decide to leave then they will get replaced with the next 5 that are available. Does WPTF2L have less teams in its prem because alot of big name teams never sign up? no they have 10, It may not be as competitive but the fact remains we have to make the best of what we have the same as WPTF2L does.
Yes the teams that possibly get a promotion wont be as good as epsilon or pwr BUT they will still be prem teams as that is all we would have available. When they become new prem teams maybe they will attract bigger players, who knows but talk of having a smaller prem div is out of the question imo.
Why you people who have boycotted ETF2L care at all makes no sense to me whatsoever. How many teams are going to be in the prem makes no difference to you at all as you are no longer taking part :S
And to all of you who will reply with “none will ever compete with BB or TCM” please read this before doing.
There have been 8 regular seasons and 1 afs season and ETF2L has only ever had 3 champions in the “top div”.
diggy,tcm and epsilon. and no clans have really come near to competing with them for the winners medal.
There will always only be 3 outta 10 that can really compete for the winners medal in any league sport or game as the best players always join the best teams, That will never change.
I’m quite looking forward to seeing if any of the new teams or current ones like FB can manage to spring a suprise and compete with tcm or BB.
Just to clarify kop, the teams that left have always cared. Thats why we fought for rule changes. From our perspective it’s you guys who don’t care for the league and as Admirable said you’re making it a league without direction.
So before you and your bandwagon tell us to gtfo etc. I think you should view whats going on objectively. Infact, as an admin you should do this for every decision.
Before i get lambasted by said bandwagon or by demourge, I’d like to point out that i do appreciate the work that admins put in, but that doesn’t mean i have to like the decisions they make.
The older prem teams could give the top dogs a good fight, the teams that will end up filling the slots in prem this season will get destroyed.
Thats complete rubbish, The league does have direction, its just not the direction certain people want, I think about every decision objectively and tbh im utterly disapointed that clans i respected have boycotted and its made me lose all my respect for the high clan in TF2, and the majority of the players.
Alot of things dont go the way i want, for example i hate half the maps for the upcoming season BUT i’m not gonna sulk and boycott the league coz i dont get my own way, i hated the wireplay maps too but i didnt boycott that either(even tho we won like 1 map as we was wrongly placed by accident :p).
As for the weapons well i hate alot of the updates too but the fact is in all the matches i;ve played its very VERY rare that another team uses a weapon that bothers me, and when they do we try to counter it which in turn usually makes that game abit more fun. Its deffinately not something im gonna boycott for, I want to play tf2, ETF2L is the best league(imo and in many others) and i want to be a part of it before it ends, I was gutted i never got to play in uktfcl in the tfc days so i will take full advantage of trying to play in the #1 tf2 league.
@ koeitje, None of the teams could compete with diggy, tcm or epsilon, hense the reason we have had only 3 winners in 9 seasons. There is always a one map chance and ofc those 3 have lost the odd map but realisticly they have never been threatened by any other clan when it comes to all the league games played over the season.
Premier was setup to be the elite division, and to give room for a very competitive division 1. S9 will future neither of this. Also, the other premier teams have given good games, the new premier will involve teams getting 5-0’d. At least demsii will be prem now :D

Well, I’d rather say it was the best league. Your missing out the best teams. It means so totally nothing anymore if you win ETF2l. Hell, even Wireplay means more now.
I’d say in terms of achievement of winning the season or playing prem or even D1 your league dropped pretty far. Don’t get delusional about ETF2L being the best league anymore.
Maybe the biggest for now…but surely not the best.
It’s like Manu, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and City would stop playing Premiership and play somewhere else. Now where would you wanna play with only mediocre teams left?
Well as we (the teams “boycotting” ETF2L) see it, the decisions being made with regards to rules will end up bringing tf2 a step backwards. If we didn’t care, we wouldnt be so vocal about our disagreements. I believe slick was to have a meeting with Dave about ETF2L (although im not sure who else was involved or if it happened in the end) regarding this whole shitstorm so its not as if we haven’t made any effort to resolve this.
You make the point in your last reply about it being very rare that an unlock bothers you. This actually brings me back to a post i made several months ago regarding the initial FaN. That post had numeric proof that the FaN was an idiotic addition to the league. A poll was held before the season began and over 50% of the league voted to ban the weapon. The decision was made by the admins to limit it to 1. So the point here is that even after people give useful input into the ruleset admins still may just do their own thing. You cant run a league like that.
Note: I’m not blaming you for the above i’m pretty sure it was, for the most part, different admins that made that decision but the perception of poor judgements on the admins part remains.
The problem as I see it is that, these weapons are maybe a bit less effective in the hands of somebody in division 5 or 6 so it appears perfectly balanced and above board to them. These players also make up a large portion of the player base in ETF2L so even if polls were held the results would be hugely skewed by their sheer numbers. When these weapons are used by more skilled players it either gives them or their team an advantage or adds a bit more randomness to the game.
You go on to say that you find countering weapons a bit more fun. The difference in tf2 in prem is that, you dont really get much of a chance to counter something. TF2 is quite a bit more clinical when playing against teams like pwr, BB and dignitas. One mistake can and often does lose you the round.
I wasn’t really finished saying what I wanted to but this debate has been done to death and i just don’t have the energy to fight it anymore

Fan Limit 1 was by far the most popular option in the poll, and that’s not even counting the people that wanted to allow it without limit. And regardless of the fact that the majority was on favour of allowing, the weapon is banned now along with several other popular ones. And yet you rage and complain at some admins for not listening?
You claim to have been vocal about disagreements when in fact boycotting unless you have precisely and 100% what you want (including banning equalizer) has nothing to do with being vocal or reasonable.

Team E-sports have not reached the same “hometown” fanbase style that real life team sports have, so you cant really compare those to full extent. People playing in ETF2L will always be interested in the finals of the same league, which is what Kop meant.
None of this “getting tf2 forward” should have anything to do with equalizer or w/e unlocks. If people would have only put half the effort into getting the community to sign up for maxlan or the ESH cup as they spend complaining and raging over the equalizer, we would be actually getting somewhere…
People want to watch the best of the best. Be it TF2 or football. And ofc people will watch Etf2l finals…just not as many as before. People will watch the finals with the best teams in it.
You watered down the divisons. You have to replace 5 spots in each division at least. Gonna be fun for the upmoving teams getting raped again and again. Skill lvl dropped and the true matches are gonna happen somewhere else.
So I’d say you made a fault not catering to the prem teams in the long run. Sad to see ETF2L losing the “bling bling” it built up over 8 seasons. Now its just a league like wireplay that noone really cares about winning.
See this is what pisses me off, all this crap about talking stuff over, We as an admin team was told we either drop to our knees and do whatever prem says and piss off alot of other clans or allow a certain handful of weapons and lose the majority of the prem, even tho said people said they like this league and would rather be a part of it.
We volunteer and get put in a lose lose situation because of this, We have lost so many good admins due to them realising that whatever they do is wrong to someone and its just not right.
So please just go to esl, do what u have to do there and stop trying to bury this league even further with the childish remarks, whats done is done, we had no real choice and can now not go back on it.

I’m not worried. I don’t even play anymore. All i did was watching some prem games and keeping me updated about premier. Its sad to say, but I don’t give a shit about the “good seeding” of yours. Noone will care and you will notice that.

all the prem “boycotting” teams are whining for just some weapons, did they realize that kritz (and ubersaw a little too) is changing this game 100 times of what equalizer or bonk does?
if you (“boycotting” teams) really want to keep this game balanced in the way you like, you should not accept the first med unlocks too.
