Introducing Season 8, part 2!

Welcome back all to the second half of our Season 8 launch! Our menu tonight definitely consists of the sweet stuff as we’re revealing the prizes for ETF2L’s biggest Season yet, and all the details for the juicy new Playoff system!

Prizes
We’re delighted to be able to announce that the total prize pool value for Season 8 will be over €3,000, with both cash and hardware up for grabs! Once again, the Season will be supported by our partners SteelSeries, who will be providing us with some more of their fantastic hardware. I’ll cut to the chase and give you the breakdown:
1st : €750 + 6x SteelSeries 7H
2nd: €350 + 6x SteelSeries Xai
3rd: €150 + 6x SteelSeries 6Gv2
We’re also thrilled to be able to reveal that the new Division 1 will also be competing for prizes alongside their fight for promotion to the Premiership! We really want to encourage the ‘sub-top’ to develop, so we hope these prizes act as a great incentive!

Playoff System
With all these new prizes at stake, it would be a huge shame to see the top spots decided by a default win in Week 5, for example. For that reason, Season 8 will be the debut for our new Playoff system. Allow us to explain.
The teams that finish in the top 4 positions of the Premiership will progress through to the Playoffs, and seeded #1-4 respectively. In reward for their #1 finish, the team at the top of the table will be allowed to pick their opponents, and 2 of the 3 maps to be played in a Best of 3 Semi-Final. This creates a whole load of tactical drama, and is something we’re really looking forward to!
The two remaining teams will similarly battle it out in a Best of 3 game, with the higher seed again picking 2 of the maps. The losers of these 2 games will meet in a Consolidation Final to decide the 3rd spot, whilst the victors will progress onwards and upwards to the Grand Final – the climax of Season 8!
With more and more teams within the Premiership emerging as title contenders, we can’t wait to see how the Season unfolds, and we look forward to a hugely dramatic Playoff Series to determine who gets these great prizes!

Updated ETF2L Config
As announced yesterday, we will be introducing a new Whitelist config to enforce our unlock rules. We are currently doing final tests, so expect to hear more very very soon!

Wow, so because the prizes are slightly better, we’re forced to upload every single POV demo? Still doesn’t make sense.
Good job. I would’ve preferred a system like the Korean BW Proleague uses for play-offs though. #4 plays #3, winner faces #2, winner faces #1. This puts more emphasis on doing well during the league and doesn’t make the cut-off between 5th and 4th so harsh.
Force everyone to upload the demos, since we’re all equal, you know?

But it’s possible to do from STV demos. There is no reason for this besides AC, but then it would only make sense if everyone was forced to do it. It’s kinda like Aequitas, but instead of a ~2 meg file you have to upload a 30 meg one. Why must people with bad upload speeds suffer?

I always think the best way to do playoffs is to do it like the Starleagues do in starcraft.
Best of 3
#4 plays #3 – (#3 picks the decider map)
Winner plays #2 – (#2 picks the decider map)
Winner plays #1 – (#1 picks the decider map, or just down to set maps).
Winner wins the division/league.
That way it gives #1 a huge advantage as they are allready in the final (and so they should be since they came 1st). #2 Also gets an advantage as they are in the semi final. #3 gets a decider map advantage over #4.
That system really gives a strong reason to push to be ranked first at the end of the regular season.

Depending on how long you have after a match to upload, you can just do it when your pc is idle.
As long as I don’t have to upload my demos the night I played a match, it’ll be somehow okay and yet stupid.

Sick prizes.
Say extremer have a shit comp and after the game ends 23.00 cet he wants to go to sleep. but his shitty comp sounds like hell broke loose and when he wants to slp he either got to stay up another 30 min cuz his upload speed is totally shit or try to sleep with a crazy sounds in his ears!
imo a stv upload should be good enough (if no one is looking for cheatz) and extremer wins with a +1
never understood why gamers win stuff they already have. If you play in season 8 without a mouse, headset or keyboard I would be surprised. I remember winning some tf2 final and they game us a copy of er “Team Fortress 2” as the prize. WHY. Whats wrong with vouchers or beer. mmm BEER !! or sweets. Hi Byte ;P
