Highlander Challenge – Provisional Groups

After a long process involving sorting all of the teams into Groups, we are now almost ready to start the challenge. Each team has been put into a Division based on their location, so you will find all of the European clans will be playing together, with all the North-American playing in separate Groups and so on. Hopefully, this will make arranging matches for a suitable time a lot easier. We have also had to remove some clans that failed to read the rules correctly, and were fielding ineligible players or did not have the required 10 players on their roster. Please make sure you read and understand all rules for any tournament that you sign up for.
If you are a member of a team with an incorrect roster and you still wish to play, please sort it out as soon as possible and you will be assigned when the final divisions are published. If you missed the deadline, you are also still welcome to re-apply, although please note we cannot guarantee you a place at this stage.
Finally, please remember to assign your Buddies in the correct Buddy role on your roster. Buddies are the players from Higher divisions who are helping you out and are limited to playing Pyro, Engineer, Heavy or Spy. Please do not assign someone the Buddy role if they are not a buddy, and please do not assign more than one buddy, as it complicates things for everyone. This can be done on your Team Admin Dashboard, in the Teams section under Edit Roster.
Once we have announced the final divisions, teams will be able to schedule matches against the other teams in their group.
Highlander Rules Clarification
The Highlander Rules page has been clarified with Rule 1.6, please make sure you have read it and all the rules regarding the use of mercs. Remember that all mercs must be registered on ETF2L before they can be used. If you are unsure, a merc is a player who is registered on ETF2L but is not added to your team.

It’s normal situation for ETF2L.
Only 3 Teams per Group. Doesn’t it say in the rules that there are 4 times 2 maps in the group stage? No complaining just a hint?!
And what a shame for human kind that there has been over 600 Teams signes up and not even 256 read the rules properly. Must be a very big waste of time for the admins to sort out two out of three teams. Honestly … great work from the admins … you will get the rest too.

Maybe you should publish a list of teams that fail to fulfill the criteria for this tournament yet and have to add players to the roaster, assess the buddy status properly etc. For example in group 64 one team has only 7 players (2 of them are given buddy status). I think if you just set a deadline quite a lot of teams will drop out of the competition.
So the tourney hasn’t started yet? :o Just wondering.

funny thing is that it was 949 teams while signups were closed. and today I see that there are over 35 additional teams. …and you were suposed to remove teams that didn’t meet the requirements. >_<
Will final division be announced before week1 ends? Since week1 is supposed to start today a mention would be nice if it’s going to be delayed.

Honestly, you should just kick players like pala4 from this tournament for being ungrateful idiots. The admins spend a lot of their free time doing volunteer work so that you can have your highlander tournament, a little bit more appreciation would be nice.

I appreciate what etf2l admins do very much ecpecially this highlander tournament but as I said it is so strange that so much time was taken for nothing:)
they could just post provisional divs and let us check all mistakes by other teams to report non eligible teams to them
yeah, and after that, every group needs 1-2 additional teams (because a few teams did not match the criteria), and the whole work starts again …

Obviously we don’t know every single player by name, and we can’t do a full team history check on 10.000+ players. So that part (behaving and self-correction) is up to the community. If you find a team that does not fill the requirements please let us know.
As for the group seeding, we apologize for the delay. A lot of time was put into giving everyone a group stage against teams who should have the same playtimes. And don’t forget we have other things to do, both for etf2l as well as real life ;)

Well I was unaware of the rule that we needed ten people, but I did gather extras so that our team is 13 people as of yesterday. Is there anything I need to do or should I just wait for the final group list?
One question : If the team I belong does not show up, does it mean our team has been removed from the list or we should wait for the final groups? Like do we have extra time to fix things up to be ready for the final divisions ?

My group (BRB, Uninstalling – http://etf2l.org/teams/10681/) didn’t show up on the list. I believe it’s because we had 15 members at one point. We’re at 14 as of today however. Do we need to notify someone that we’re at 14 now, or will we automatically be added to the next list of Groups?

Hello , my team souls of divinity hasn’t been placed into divisions because we were to many players. Now should be ok with 14 players. Hope for a place in the final divisions. :)
OMG! this is gonna be a nightmare for the admins, removing and adding teams, cant you recruit some temporary admins for this? just the default dates is gonna take forever.
1 of my communities teams has not been placed. “the legion and friends” is in group 217, but “the legion and friends #2” hasnt been placed. ill try to contact someone via email about the problem and hopefully get it resolved asap
