Nations’ Cup: Group Phase start – Public server Update
August 31, 2009
Nations cup start
After one week of sign-ups, the ETF2L nations cup is ready to start. 30 countries from all around Europe signed up for this event. The event will go as follows:
All teams will participate in the group stage, which will consist of six groups of four teams, and two groups of three. The groups with three teams will play matches of three maps, this way every team will play six maps total in the group phase. After everyone has played a match against the rest of his group, the best two of each group will continue to the playoff stage, which will be a single elimination tournament.
Seedings
To create balanced groups, and balanced play-offs, we have seeded the participants into three pots. A, B and C, based on their skill and past performance. Pot A has also been seeded 1 to 8, in order to try to make the play-offs more interesting. Each group stage group will consist of one team from Pot A, one from Pot B and two Pot C teams.
The seedings are as follows:
Pot A:
- 1. Finland
- 2. Sweden
- 3. England
- 4. Belgium
- 5. Germany
- 6. Russia
- 7. France
- 8. Norway
Pot B:
- Denmark
- Ireland
- Israel
- Netherlands
- Poland
- Portugal
- Spain
- Ukraine
Pot C:
- Austria
- Belarus
- Bulgaria
- Croatia
- Czech Republic
- Estonia
- Hungary
- Italy
- Latvia
- Lithuania
- Romania
- Scotland
- Switzerland
- Wales
These groups have been randomly seeded into divisions, which you can see here:
This means each team will have to play either two or three matches. The final deadline for these matches is 1st of October. This means 1 match per week, and 1 additional week for catchups.

So, fixed maps for the nations cup, does that mean the same for S6?
Yes, a whole season of double turbine matches for you ;)
GL & HF all!
HAHAHA! Nice group A
1. Finland
2. Netherlands
3. LITHUANIA
GL, extremer! You’ll need it…
Also, 3 maps? You’re kidding, right? Can’t you just make 6 groups with 5 teams?
Nice maps etc, week 3 maps im kinda unsure about, would prefer to see cp_gullywash and cp_well.
Eon: cp_well _IS_ in week3?! Freight or gullywash is just a coin-flip, now it’s freight — hooray for some, boohoo for others.
League was structured for 32 teams, now it’s 30 due to not everybody being able to participate — hence we are two short and the tables look the way they do. Not too bad.
The result of 4×8 layout is finishing the group-play and move to play-off’s in just 3-4 weeks instead of 8+, which is awesome imho.
for honor!!!
btw, start playin on etf2l pub server :<<<<<<<<<<
gryzor, i know, i ment id prefer to see map 1 being gully and map 2 being well.
idd, we will get raped by russian haxors nao :(
