i’m assuming we use this system to pick matches? :S

    Explanation: “Map Elimination System”

This system is used to decide maps for playoff and tiebreaker matches when specified by the competition.

For any matches where both teams are equally seeded (e.g. tie-breaker matches, cups), the following system has to be used.

Both teams need to agree on who eliminates first and who picks the decider map, if the number of maps is even. If the two teams can not agree, they need to perform a heavy fist fight [Explanation].
Loser of the heavy fist fight eliminates a map
Winner of the heavy fist fight eliminates a map
Repeat 2 & 3 until three or four maps are left
Loser of the heavy fist fight picks their home map
Winner of the heavy fist fight picks their home map
If only one map is left, this map is the decider map. If two maps are left, the loser of the heavy fist picks the decider map.

    Example:

Please see specific competition rules for correct Map Pool. This example uses the Season 18 map pool (badlands, gullywash, granary, snakewater, process, viaduct, turbine)

1st team: “We eliminate badlands!” – remaining maps: gullywash, granary, snakewater, process, viaduct, turbine
2nd team: “Oh no, I wanted to pick that one! Anyway, process is gone!” – remaining maps: gullywash, granary, snakewater, viaduct, turbine
1st team: “Ok, we eliminate viaduct!” – remaining maps: gullywash, granary, snakewater, turbine
2nd team: “We eliminate turbine!” – remaining maps: gullywash, granary, snakewater
1st team: “Okay there are 3 maps left, we choose snakewater as our map!” – remaining maps: gullywash, granary
2nd team: “We pick gullywash!” – remaining maps: granary
1st team: “Okay, so granary is the decider!”

Map order for this example: snakewater, gullywash (if needed: granary).

    @Piplup
Yep. Basically, we (in turn) eliminate maps, then from the remaining maps we choose a map each as our “home map” and then a team gets to choose the ‘decider’ map.
I suppose we could theoretically use Rock Paper Scissors instead of Heavy Boxing nowadays, but the rules state Heavy Boxing and I’d rather neither of us got a weird minor warning for not using heavy boxing if we choose to go that route. We also need to figure out whose server we play on seeing as both teams have servers.

Oh god the comment system ignored my formatting. So used to double line spacings being a nice <p> break. Well, speak soon!

  4. ETF2L Staff said:

Please remember that the “Heavy fist fight” is only needed when neither of you can agree on which team eliminates a map first.

Letting your opponent eliminate a map first gives you the advantage of picking a map first (after the elimination phase is over).

We have not yet had a confirmation from infected Ambition on a match date, nor maps yet.
We have proposed 21 CEST on Friday 12th September.

  12. Piplup: TC said:

After talking with my team, Saturday 13th at 21 CEST would be better, if you guys could manage that? :D

  13. [email protected] said:

Saturday is really crappy for us tbh :S
    You kinda got me prepared for Friday ;___;

  14. Sir.Grey said:

Saturday is absolutely dreadful for us. Is Friday out of the question or just a bit more difficult?

  15. Sigma: TC said:

sorry friday is a no go, a lot of players are going to a party, we cannot do sunday as the logjam cup is on and we’re in it, saturday is the only option for us

  16. Sir.Grey said:

We are down half the team on Saturday, it’s absolutely a no go for us. Saga said he offered Monday as an alternative and that you’ve declined it as well. Thursday is impossible for us as well. Really running out of options here. Wish it had been earlier than a few hours before the deadline that you had told us that Friday was a no go, it’s very difficult to make alternative arrangements at this stage.

  17. Sigma: TC said:

Yeh saga offered monday the 8th on sunday evening which is not enough notice for anyone, most of my team weren’t even online. And I didn’t let you know a few hours before the deadline, I told saga on monday evening that we wouldn’t be able to make friday. Saga seems to be more interested in trying to get me to bet on who is going to win…

I doubt half your team can’t make it because that would mean 4.5 people. I’m sure if only 2 or so people can’t make it won’t be that devastating. However 6/9 of my team can’t make friday.

  18. Default Date said:

Because this match has not been scheduled by either of the teams, a default date has been set for this match.
The default date is: Sunday, 14 September 2014, 21:00
Please play this match on the appointed time and submit the results.

  19. Sir.Grey said:

@ Sigma, we are down 5 players on Saturday, which I rounded to half because it’s easier to write. We offered Monday because it was an option and we wanted to give you the options that was available, though I appreciate that scheduling for Monday would have been difficult, we just wanted it open as an option.

A bit late now, one way or another, ETF2L have scheduled it for us. See you on Sunday.

  20. Sir.Grey said:

Oh, we need to organise maps, Saga and I will be in tough regarding that, probably later today.

  21. Sigma: TC said:

i want to do 9v9 heavy fist fight :D with both our teams :D

this is the most complicated official arranging bs i have ever gone through…

  22. Sir.Grey said:

So set it to arena mode and just have at it with everyone heavy? That could be a giggle :D We can probably do that even if we agree who chooses what.

Agreed. It’s just one of those tricky weeks for our team when our schedules just don’t line up properly. For me it’s London Fashion Week so if I’m playing I’m skipping one of the magazine or agency parties, one way or another. Friday’s the one day that I don’t have an any shows to go to. Sunday’s going to be no fun for me. I might see if I can exchange some of my late Sunday tickets for some of my friends Monday passes. Eugh.

  23. Sigma: TC said:

yeh it would be awesome to have a mass brawl in arena mode :D not sure what map though…

i’m not really experience with the fashion week :S but I think i saw it on snapchat lol… enjoy the week :) and sorry about you having to miss one :/

  24. Sir.Grey said:

Well, here are our choices: https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Arena I think Sawmill might be hilarious because of the blades.

Well, at least I”m not writing anything up on Sunday, could have been a lot worse.

What are you guys doing about Logjam?

  25. Sir.Grey said:

Shame our schedules don’t line up and we can’t do the 9v9. Let us know when you can go over map decisions.
