Anti-Cheat Staff position open and rules update
January 10, 2015
The Anti-Cheat Team is stocking up again!
The remaining Anti-Cheat staff would like to take this opportunity to thank the very knowledgeable quintosh for his continued hard work and commitment over an exceptionally long Anti-Cheat career. Serving in both AC staff and head AC positions, quintosh brought drive to the team and was reliable and competent. He will be missed and we wish him well in all he does in the future.
This leaves an open position for anyone interested in working for a league free from cheaters. Anti-Cheat admins ensure fair competition in the league by analyzing submitted evidence for signs of cheats and issuing bans to confirmed cheaters. Submitted evidence is rarely clear-cut – most cases are challenging and involve a fair bit of “forensic work”.
Anti-Cheat staff need to have a good sense of trust and morality, additionally be excited by detective work and technical aspects of the source engine that come with demo viewing and cheats and such. It’s also important to have no bias and be respectful of the democratic process on voting.
Please don’t be intimidated to apply, it’s a position that you can really only improve on with real experience.

Rules update
As most of you will already be aware recently there have been a couple of exploits uncovered which allow manipulation of how your client side TF2 looks. In some cases this will give the person using it an unfair advantage and because of this the ETF2L AC team has decided to make this post in order to put any misconceptions about these exploits to rest.
If you use any of these exploits you will be issued with a ban. The ban lengths are as follows
- 3 months for removing props e.g. rocks and bushes on cp_badlands.
- 3 months for removing the scope overlay.
- 1 year for any surface texture modifications which will function like a wall hack.
Any player caught using these exploits will be banned in accordance with the information above.
Thx for your hard work quintosh.
05:05 – quintosh: did u know that my spirit animal is a fox
But how will you find out that the person is using such exploits?
Bring back the secret screenshot taking hehe
ddos worked ?
you cant even use surface texture mods or scope mods when a server has sv_pure 2 on it which every comp server has. stupid. im high btw xoxoxo <33
You can, those modifications are all HUD related, so it bypasses sv_pure
Oops, not all, only Scope one.
The prop hiding can be bypassed with precaching as well, it’s kinda hit/miss with some props but a lot of them can still be hidden in sv_pure 2 servers (like the bush on badlands).
so any .vpk from CleanTF2 allowed?
Only the things stated in the newspost are bannable offenses.
yes you can
Removing bushes is basically wallhack ban for life ty
Wait, since Chris’ config removes some of these (Im thinking of the rocks on upward first, path on the left blu pov), does this count as one of the exploits listed here?
No.
So because I want to/have to run the game on low settings I’m gonna get banned? Doesn’t really seem reasonable to me :I I hope this isn’t the case . Gonna get banned for life D:
Fps config is different than custom .vpks, dont be a smartass.
The scope removal was just ridicilous
“_misc_removal.vpk” removes the scope overlay. delete that file and cleantf2 should be okay..?
I Was wondering, Is the Transparent Viewmodels modification (on tf.tv) bannable?
Transparent viewmodels are allowed. The .vpk’s banned from the “cleantf2” pack are:
• _misc_removal.vpk
• _prop_removal.vpk
All others are allowed, given that they’re not modified to do the same things as one of the .vpk’s above.
Any hud modification that will remove your scope overlay is banned as well.
Another great thing about working for the AC team is that you never have to justify your actions in public! Sign up now :D
http://teamfortress.tv/thread/21756/prism-hud–clean-tf2/?page=4#112 so he removed the scope overlay from the _misc_removal.vpk, can we use it again?
Admirable you troublemaker you!
Does using nvidiainspector to give yourself lod bias 15 blocky textures count as the surface textures thing? It removes chain link fence textures sometimes to just be invisible, but as you can see through these anyway it can be annoying as you have to navigate through invisible walls. It doesnt remove any walls in 6es maps that I know of. It removes the chain link fences by red’s 2nd spawn in swiftwater (you can see through them anyway) but as far as I know it doesn’t do anything in any other maps played in Hl or 6es.
how can you check for these without an etf2l plugin?
