Unless you play a blizzard game it seems. Even people who “know what they’re doing” are unlikely to think to check their card is actually spinning its fan at the correct speed.
You don’t have to. I can’t imagine how anyone could not have this set:
If you don’t want to downgrade, you can make sure the fan starts spins using this:

I know someone who melted his GPU because of this, am I famous now?

I installed yesterday before i heard about all this, i dont play blizz games will mine be fine ?
I’ve not had any problems with mine so far. To be honest if you’re really worried go back, but otherwise just have some event triggers on.

That’s simply not possible, the GPU will just shut down.

Well, I’m not sure of the circumstances but it’s broken now. Coincidence? I dont care.
Installed the new drivers, but my computer went into a crash loop. Very nice.
Fortunately Windows’s settings rollback option worked.
First of all, ATI rocks.
Now to topic
Dont update, many people are experience extreme heat problems, some cards may go up to even 135 celcius. nVidia took there update back.

too bad speedfan doesnt let you control gpu fanspeed (oh the irony) but for diagnosis and as a 24/7 temperature guard it’s awesome
My trusty ‘ole 7600GS haven’t had any problems with overheating. After this update TF2 never goes under 60 fps. ^.^
