Today I got a spare CRT monitor from my dad: http://www3.shopping.com/xPO-Hewlett-Packard-HP-M900-19-in-20110927 Now here’s the problem. As you can read on the site it says the refresh rate can go up to 115 Hz but reading the manual it says something different (60/75/85 Hz) http://dl.owneriq.net/7/7579fdf5-ac4f-46c5-bfe7-c319665f8a13.pdf

I also can’t choose more than 85 Hz in properties without unchecking the “Hide modes which this monitor can’t show”. Don’t wanna start breaking stuff. Any clues?

If it only goes up to 85hz in the properties, then that is the max it is reporting it can handle.

So yes, 85hz is your max.

EDIT: I have no idea what the hell “ergonomic mode” is, but from that description it looks like it can only handle 115hz at 1024×768 in “ergonomic mode”…

I use 144hz on 800×600 on my own CRT.

You may need to lower your resolution.

Try putting it as low as you can, say 600X400ish, and see if you get higher values then.

refresh rates on crts are much more noticeable and vital than that of lcd/tft.
