You probably know all of the mainstream series by the title at least but give them a try if you havent watched them yet.

90s von Trier is his best work, as dramas go Breaking the Waves is incredible. I also love Dancer in the Dark, but the premise can put people off. All of his work is good, but those are the ones I’d start off with.
A Seperation is pretty famous after the Oscars, and is very interesting with good performances, but I think that the director’s earlier film, About Elly, is even better. Another pseudo-Iranian film which is very dark is The Stoning of Soraya M – some of the most unsettling scenes I’ve seen on film.
Incendies has a good story if you can get past one stupid conceit.
How I ended this summer is set in a Siberian meteorological outpost and is unsurprisingly sparse. The vast majority of the film only involves 2 actors, but it’s gripping throughout.
Dark City is a sci-fi film that has almost gotten to the point of being “so underrated it is overrated” but is still worth a watch.
The Hunted is the best Danish film for awhile, fuck In a Better World.
