Being dragged by family to the french med coast. Any advice for not dying a slow death by melting?

No pool, doubt we’ll be going to the actual beach too much, we’re a few km inland. Also we’re sort of in the middle of no-where.

I’m basing my expectations on my experience in south-east Austria, which was usually still [no wind], sunny, dry [so hot in the sun cool in the shade] with a weekly 2 days heavy rainstorm, so I was planning to bring my raincoat and shorts. But now that seems a little silly.
