My brother started playing it yesterday. He stayed at my place over the night. I woke up in the middle of the night. My brother had stirred me up by playing with his laptop. My question as to how late it was was answered with a long winded explanation about why Kerbal Space Program is awesome :|

Yeah, it does have this big invisible hand that grabs you and wont let you go…

Needed to get up at 6:30 for work today.

Was launching bloody rockets until gone 1:30… *Yawn*

So addictive and actual lol’y that I can’t give up. Must get to the moon and back tonight, then I’mma take a RC rover, then I’mma gonna go to another planet and then…then…who knows.

Serious good fun.

This is way more addictive than minecraft. I cannot stop playing. The best game ever.

I also, can’t….stop….playing.

6 hours last night, that’s practically a days work after work. My god, so addictive.

Haven’t managed to get to the Mun yet as I’m trying to launch a lander that can also get back. Think I’m gonna have to do 2 launchers and dock in orbit before speeding on my way…or something.

I’m trying to look at no videos or tutorials and work it all out myself. This game is damn hard.

All my waking hours I think about rockets, I dream about rockets…someone help me…PLEASE!

My space is full of space trash but I still can’t put a satellite in orbit :(

To get to orbit you’ll need a fair few solid rockets for the first burn, an advanced sas module to control it, liquid tanks with rockets for the second burn and then once you get to like 30000 metres tilt right to around 30-40 degreesand keep on burning. Once you get to like 75000 cut the engines and wait till you get to the highest point of your trajectory and then line up with the green circle thing, prograde or forwards, and burn again whilst watching the map. Burn until orbit. You’ll need some rcs control and tank for manouvering in vacuum.

Good luck, you got dis.

Try designing your rockets with this mod http://kerbalspaceport.com/0-18-1-kerbal-engineer-redux-v0-5/ . It gives you parameters of your rocket as you are building it making it much easier to build something that can actually get of the ground and into the space. Generally every problem has two possible solutions 1 add more engines or 2 add more struts.
I have so far landed on both Mun and Minmus and orbited Eve and Duna. All with successful return to Kerbin although there have been some “minor” loss of life and equipment during the development of the rockets.
Also the drag model in vanilla KSP is broken and is not exactly consistent with reality. For example adding nose cones to streamline your rocket can actually slow it down.

So once I found ‘Asparagus staging’ it all seems a lot easier now. Can easily get a big payload into orbit. The hard bit for me is landing on the Mun without travelling a few hundred meters a second. 3 crash landings as of now, must remember the old f5…

Think I’ve actually got too much fuel on board for one little rocket to control easily, need a smaller fuel tank on my lander stage I think.

Feels so good getting into that Mun orbit and then watching it grow and grow and grow.

Never has a game given me such a sense of achievement as this one.

My new rocket, ‘Asparagus 1’, is a boss. No solid fuel whatsoever, just liquid in asparagus formation and away you go.

I want to go to Eve now, which should be easy enough with this new design of mine, but it feels like cheating to skip the Mun landing, so learning to land in a vacuum it is then.

Eve has a thicker atmosphere than Kerbin, so a parachute should make it easy to land there, this damn Mun though, goddam I have more respect for Armstrong et al now, scary stuff approaching a vacuum exposed celestial body at orbital velocities, let me tell yer.

During my return trip from Minmus i noticed this http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/884111088338681471/DFC2E83EC8F1DB64FDF819CBB369C2099BBE9DA9/
An Eclipse! I made like 10 screenshots of that, beautiful.

Landed about 50 km from space centre now i am planning to build a plane to recover the brave astronauts.

As long as you aerobrake enough that the parachute wont rip part of your ship off when you deploy it eve is the easiest planet to land on.

I literally spent my entire tuesday playing this. First I tried to get into space and orbit the earth, then I tried getting to the moon, and finally getting to the moon and back. When I first successfully touched down on the moon it felt just awesome and then later on so much satisfaction as I watched my capsule float down into the ocean under a fully opened parachute. I can’t remember the last time I found a video game this rewarding.

And I was only playing the demo.

I know right, best. Game. Ever. I had a day off yesterday with nothing to do. I got up and 10:30am. I was working this morning at 9. I went to bed at 2am after literally playing all day. Just can’t get enough of this awesome title. Go buy it. Everyone. Thanks.

Here’s Bill Kerman on the moon:

Look how happy he is :D

The ship was designed by a moron as the rocket stuck out further than the legs, schweet.

Never, just never, has a gaming experience been this rewarding. Tonight I’m off to Eve. I got a ship on the way to both Eve and Duna as we speak. Love the fact I can just leave them there and go to work as they drift in inter planetary space and I can time warp them into orbit when I get home.

I’m too retarded to actually launch anything without it exploding due to my extraordinary lack of foresight. :(

May I recommend hindsight, works far better I hear.
