i get this too, pretty sure it’s when your cpu hits 100%

setting TSEV.exe to high priority makes it happen less often though

ENBSeries have a fix out that resolves the freezing problem (and other bugs as well). Worked perfectly for me, and just requires to add a file to the game directory. Go here: http://enbdev.com/download_en.htm – and download the “TES Skyrim 0.091 Patch 4” file.

You haven’t missed much, honestly, it’s a terrible game that no-one I know has enjoyed playing. Boring missions with no story, terrible character development, narrow, constricted builds that leave no scope for branching out into other areas of expertise and awful graphics and gameplay to boot. the enbseries patch has already been mentioned but you can also try patching the tesv executable to be large address aware if you have the memory to spare: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=202

alt+tab back to game > hold alt+tab + left key > release

and set priority with http://edgemeal.110mb.com/PriFinitty/index.htm

if you alt-tab out you have to tab back in, out then in again

I got that problem as well. when that happens, just pop up the task manager screen, cancel the screen with ESC and tab back in. works.

got win7 64 bit btw. dunno if it works with xp
