So my ipod got smashed as some guy knocked it out of my hands and it landed face down on concrete :/ http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9848222/03022011158.jpg

anyone else have experience getting the screen replaced as its still fully functioning? If so how much did it cost you and where did you go?

There are a few options:
1) You can buy a replacement screen and try to repair the ipod yourself. The lowest price I could find was about $30, in dealextreme.com (you will need both the LCD screen and screen digitizer glass). Tutorials on how to change the screen can be found on youtube. I have tried this method but failed miserably and damaged the parts. It was still fun to try :) .
2) You can try bringing it to your local underground iDevice repair service. They charged me $60, however things are seriously overpriced here in Lithuania.
3) You can always try contacting Apple Retail Store, however prices there are much higher: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/#uk

Hope this helps.
