In my opinion it’s mostly mouse and monitor, headphones not so much as this is TF2 we’re playing, not CS.

well headphones does something too, you can still hear for footsteps and take a little advantage out of it :)

also, iirc there is a famous keyboard that comes up every now and then that is said to last looong etc, thinking it was an IBM model or smth?

IBM Model M keyboard. Best keyboard in the world. Makes you sound like Kaidus on steriods on mumble though ;).

I still kinda hate the fact that you can’t really silence your own footsteps like you can by walking in css. In that game I could pin point enemies based on sound, on tf2 there is too much sound clutter (except when standing still completely alone).

To actually contribute to the thread: I do find your gaming gear to be rather important, but I don’t think having “top of the line” products will do you much good.

The main thing you need to take into consideration is how comfortable you feel with a certain piece of equipment, which mainly applies to mice. It needs to fit into your hand just right, which will be different for everyone.

Personally I also need to have a keyboard with those flat laptop-like buttons. Give me a regular keyboard and I won’t be able to play properly.

“Only these can run 3D so all 3D monitors are ergo capable of 120Hz”

that’s bullshit, you’re just talking about a specific type, don’t do nvidia’s nonsense promotion for them

Spira

Mouse: Bought my first gaming mouse today – MX518
Mousemat: Razer Sphex
Keyboard: Dell basic keyboard
Monitor: Some shit 4 year old Dell monitor
Headset: Philips SHM1900
Graphics Card: 8400gs

All anyone really needs is a solid framerate.

LTG.

When talking about gaming equipment, don’t think how much will it cost but think how long will it last. Especially with mice. The longer you use certain mouse, the more comftorable you feel with it.

Mouse: MX518 – Bought my first one 2 years ago, had Saiph3200 for a while but swapped back :)

Keyboard: Razer Arctosa Silver – Had a Compaq for 10years, got a Razer Arctosa for free and have been using it ever since.

Headset: Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset – Bought it 2 years ago after my Phillips earphones broke down.

Mousepad: Ulti-Mat Breathe X3 – Got it when playing with RCTIC. Going to switch to bigger Ulti-Mat some day :)

In my opinion all gaming peripherals are pointless if you look at them from the aim of improving your skill level.
However if like most of us you spend several evenings a week sat using them, for your own sake just spend some time choosing and some money buying decent ones :D

i always thought keyboard didnt matter and mouse didnt matter, but now that i have a comfy setup and a couple of mice to choose from i would never go back to cheap tat. just because its not nice to use :/
