Hi.
Today I have bought E8400.
After playing tf2 for 5 min it’s temperature goes up to:
Core0: 80С; Core1: 75С and more.
When nothing special is loaded it’s temperature is – ~49С/50С.
+ The Cover opposite the processor is opened
Is there any way to lower the temperature ?

using a fan or passive cooling? did you apply a bit of heat transfer paste (if you replaced an old CPU with it)?

Default fan which was with the processor in same package.
Yeah.
make sure the heatsink actually is locked properly in place…
it needs to have huge pressure against cpu or it wont work
if ur playing only tf2 and its overheating there is srs issue either with heatsink or bios settings.. make sure its not overclocked, or the voltages are at their default setting

It sounds like the cpu is not in proper contact with the heatsink as above post the mounting mechanism on the stock heatsink is utter crap & sometimes doesn’t lock in place, last time I used the stock heatsink on an 8400 it was running at about 30-35 degrees C idle I can’t remember the load temp but it was nowhere near that, check your fan is spinning & check the bios hasn’t set the fan to run in silent mode @ around 900rpm, also check your vcore voltage is correct & also what are you using to read the temps?

touch the heatsink. is it cold at the base when the cpu under load? if so, it’s probably not in proper contact. take it off, get some rubbing alcohol and q-tips, take off the TIM with it, reapply TIM in a dot in the center (don’t spread it, let the heatsink do that or you risk getting pockets of air), then clamp the hs.
