Hmm, have you enabled hit sounds ingame :D.. Yes, that is a very silly question.

i did.

Greg

Strange.. are you trying to use a custom hit sound or the default valve one?

quake3.
its just not working ;o

Aha! put this into your autoexec file.

tf_dingaling_pitchmaxdmg “80”
tf_dingaling_pitchmindmg “130”
tf_dingaling_volume “1”
tf_dingaling_wav_override “ui/quake3.wav”
play “ui/quake3.wav”
tf_dingaling_pitchmindmg “100”
tf_dingaling_pitchmaxdmg “200”

A team mate of mine wrote that up for me and it works every time I load up TF2. I dont know if you have to put the sound file in TF>Sounds>UI but it works. We also found that deleting tf_dingaling_wav_override from your config file helps. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

I got that when I added a custom ding
It doesnt work on sv_pure servers but I cant remember how I got rid of it :S

tf_dingaling_wav_override “0”

this will enable default hitsound.
Stark is right, sv_pure 2 kills quake (ut, painkiller, warsow etc) hitsounds

Biohazard

IDK

I had a similar problem: I loaded exactly same lines of config, used same sound as inzomnia, when i loaded tf2 the sound played once in a background (upon start) but in game it would not work for anything. Thats when i went to advanced options and enabled it in tf2 and surprisingly the hit sound worked since then :] and yes: it does work with etf2l config servers

No, sv_pure doesn’t kill anything. You have to load the custom hitsound before actually entering a sv_pure 2 server. To do that, just put “play quake3.wav” to your autoexec or “+play quake3.wav” to your launch options.
