once it is there, who out of the fanbase cares how it got there, fact is it’s there and it’s getting them (MLG) what they want: viewers, monies etc. If you want to know why tf2 isnt successful, it’s that simple fact that there’s no one behind to push it like that (hint: Valve are busy doing this: http://www.dota2.com/tournaments/international/ with a prize pot of probably 1kk+).
This is a pipe-dream, one worthy of Danny when high.

dont forget about the fact that MLG generally have a great amount aof viewers…and if there are finals at any game i would at least turn it on and take a look at it…
vanilla tv & co just had that “less” amount of visitors because of the rare ads and spreading…
i mean, if you dont participate in etf2l/ check the website constantly, just a tiny amount of people actually knew that there was a final match and it was casted…
everyday there are more than 60k player who are playing tf2, as much as dota2 has…
maybe mlg is the bump we need to get some love <3

Good thing still, it is still TF2 and when they look at it and see two gamemodes they will realise there is a bigger target audience than just 6v6 people. It is like with CS, they have 3 games they might feel obliged to pick the most popular gamemode. I don’t know how these people think but a vote for 9v9 is as good as a vote for 6v6 in my opinion, so put your spare votes on 9v9.

One big problem has been the sheer amount of ways to compete, it took a few seasons before every league in NA was on the same page. Some leagues ran 9 vs9, 6 vs 6, 8 vs 8, 3 vs 3, ctf only, cp only, all sorts of stuff. Toss in different league rules about weapons and you have serious ground problems. That alone turned off some teams and people who tried to play multiple leagues. IT also created segregated sub groups of competitive teams and instilled a level of elitism between teams in one league vs those in another.
The basic lan center format is 20 consoles 20 pc’s meaning when you host a tf2 lan you need to add extra PCs or be forced to do 1 match at a time.
