I’m intrested in putting Linux.

WineHQ says its fine http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=9901 .

Do you run tf2 in linux ? If yes, how is it ?

Should not recommend it, but if you have to play under Linux it can be done.

If you have a windows or mac PC, play it on that.

You already asked me and i already told you it was a waste of time. I dual boot linux on my pc and have tf2 working under Wine on it. But i get a lower FPS with m0res config and dx8 on linux than i do with the PldX config on windows.

how much will you bet that you’ll still get better performance with wine than the native port? i’ll bet an awful lot.

Yeah like others said, If I was you I would wait. I had steam+tf2 working using wine (had to install few fonts, some dx files etc) however it is not worth the hassle because like skyride said you will not get same or even similar performance on linux due to dx technology requirement (mainly).

Best is to wait for native steam client and source engine executables for linux / unix based system (shouldn’t be long now since mac osx is unix based).

Dont worry – you are not alone :) I am also waiting to format my drive and keep linux as my only/ main OS :)

Only in the same sense that a toaster is grill based.

They are so different that this statement is a bit misleading.

Wait wait, surely they’re not running the game in direct X on the mac? It’s openGL is it not? Isn’t that the point he was trying to make?

You’re willing to be that a unfinished windows emulator is better than a handcrafted native port? (By valve, I might add)
Seriously, I mean, seriously?
Think twice before posting.

Even Halo 2 Vista works better than its emulated xbox counterpart.
