SDCK!

Alright, it looks like I owe people some explanation.

First of all, I really want to apologize to every team who played in the tournament, including those we didn’t play against ourselves. It was my fault entirely that I didn’t read the rules correctly and played scout while, in fact, I should have offclassed as something else.

I didn’t want to mislead Russian Guyovich (who’s done a great job hosting this cup btw) by saying scout is not my main, I only pointed out that I’ve been playing a variety of classes in the past months, including scout, and that a composure and a gamesense I once had as scout in 6v6 was kind of lost in the process (and higher division players probably know that to get it back you need to really put some effort). But if you look at the hours I have in my profile you might see that my passion has always been soldier, and about 80% players who played with me know that.

Though I do agree the misunderstanding was mostly caused by myself, I also want to break down some nonsense that’s been hanging around huhy’s stream chat (who I also thank for streaming our games, great job). Most of the people… to be honest, all the people seemed to think that players from our team had used alternative steam accounts and that they are indeed players from higher divisions. Well, I’m really sorry to disappoint you, but none of them even knew what the spire was until 4-5 weeks ago.

Pretty impressive, huh?

It so happened, that some time before the cup was announced, a girl called podryga from Russia had created a mentoring group, the purpose of which was to look for perspective players on publics and get them into tf2. The purpose was good, and it paid off well (a big shootout to podryga by the way, an incredible job she’s doing). By now we have more than 60 players divided into 7 different teams from all the Eastern Europe training under the leadership of several experienced players. One of these teams with me mentoring was here tonight playing this cup.

Should we really be guilty for the coincidence that just a week or so after I started teaching players, who, as I already stated, had had no competitive tf2 experience before, a cup was announced, designed specifically for players like the ones in my team?

If you ask me, we shouldn’t. But, on the other hand, we are not to decide anymore.

Thank you for reading this.

Cheers.

I didn’t mind the good players; if the etf2l season hadn’t started I could’ve brought a team with div4 dm and thousands of mixes experience. The div3 scout playing scout bothered me a little. Was good games though, huge props to Russian Guyovich for staging it.

You could, and that would not be against the rules. But would it serve the purpose? I don’t think so. Because, for example, in my team none of them had “thousands of mixes experience”, not even “div4 dm”. We didn’t even know what to expect when we came to play this cup. To be honest, almost everyone thought we weren’t even gonna get out of the group at first (except maybe me).

We were really surprised when we did. We were even more surprised when we won. You know, why we won? Not because of me, but because of our coordination and team work.

I’m now done talking about the skill abilities of my mentees. If I found it a nice thing to discuss at first, I now think it’s just offensive.

Also, I forgot to mention Arx & Beta, you guys are brilliant, it was an enormous pleasure when I found out you were gonna cast.

For what it’s worth, I’ve posted a couple thoughts/explanations here:
