Looks like there’s an error in my title! Meant to say ‘Team Fortress 2 competetive’, if any one wants to add me or invite to to a team then go ahead! I would be glad to play :D

How much competitive experience do you have? Do you have a mic and mumble? What’s your main class? (your best class/most played class) What days/times can you play at?

If you’ve never played in a competitive game on tf2 yet i’d recommend going on tf2center.com and see how well you fare. You’ll probably get stomped and maybe be insulted by people if you do bad but don’t care about them, alot of people started it out like this and became great players.

If you’re still interested in playing you can check this video out so you get the most important settings to be able to play competitive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYqjabM4TrM

Why thank you! I haven’t had any competitive experience but I have been spending time watching some videos on competitive. I do have a mic, I do not have mumble. I mainly play Soldier or Scout. I’m mostly on every day of the week but that’s been changing because of the exams. I have two weeks left then I am free all the time. Thanks for all the advice!

Unless you have any friends who play competitive then i really don’t think you’ll be having such high changes of finding a team at this point.

Since you mainly play soldier or scout i’d say join up for a 6s lobby and play some scout. You can also try out roamer which is a soldier with a rocket launcher, gunboats and escape plan who is highly mobile.

But first look up on youtube such as “badlands roamer rollout” or any other map so you get to the middle capture point as fast as possible with full health too. You’ll find there’s 2 icons for the soldier on tf2center when you join a lobby, click on the empty slot next to the icon with a rocket and a bent arrow above it.

Try stay close to your medic and defend him from any soldiers rocketjumping on him or a scout coming from behind. Whenever one or two people die on your team then try to escape and when you kill one or two people on their team you move into them (check the scoreboard regularly).

Also try to avoid 1v1 other people, try to get a full overheal atleast or have another guy on your team help you so there’s a bigger chance of you killing him first.

Set a goal for yourself whenever you play lobbies, after the match has finished the logs from the match will appear in the lobby page and you can see your stats from the game. Try to always aim for above 200 dpm (damage per minute) and getting more kills than deaths. When you’ve done that i think more people would be willing to give you a trial for their team.

Wish you best of luck! If you need anymore help/advice just add me on steam and i’ll try helping you :)

Thanks so much! I just really want to get into a team at the moment and start playing with people who can teach me and are good at the game.

Most people who are playing in open usually don’t have the knowledge to properly teach you but if they do you’d need all 5 of those people be okay with trying to teach you how to play competitive and trust me when i say this that is almost a impossible case since most people just wanna be in a team where they like all the players and everyone knows what they’re doing so you don’t need to carry somebody.

If you get some lobbies played and record them with the prec plugin for tf2 i can take a look at some of your demos and tell you what you need to improve if you want, i myself only play against open and mid teams so be aware that i might not be a professional either.

Check around with your friends if any of them play comp tf2, i’m sure they’d be happy to help somebody get into competitive.

Also i forgot to mention, the best way to learn how to play competitive would be to watch demos of prem teams playing. You can search for teams such as SUAVE and see how they play. Watch when and why they push, why they fall back, where their players are on the middle capture point etc.
