I thought the whole reason this plugin was even semi-controversial was because it allowed you to swap FOV while playing? I don\'t see you changing your tray tools settings while playing TF2 at the same time.
Almost. While it did allow you to potentially have a wallhack as long as you stand close to a wall and have a bind set up for it, it was exactly the same thing you were and still are able to achieve with certain aspect ratios. Essentially people who run a eyefinity setup for example would not be bothered that much by the huge fov and still have the wallhack at the same time. How is that fair?
The controversial part was mainly the fact that you were able to bypass -insecure which denied you of joining VAC servers while using unsigned plugins and be able to just build hacks in plugins and use them without getting detected.
Atleast that\'s my understanding, I don\'t see what the point of changing your tray tools settings ingame would be either way. You sure you don\'t mean aspect ratio to increase fov? There\'d be no need for this discussion if we could just increase our fov to something like 110 ingame and have that be the maximum.

then the people have to blame themselves for using a plugin that gives them a unfair advantage :)
because a plugin that makes everything accesible to everyone (something valve should think about sometime) is unfair, none of which gives you a definite advantage as similiar things can be achieved by either changing your aspect ratio or using external tools

Now all we need is a new \"legit\" way to be able to do these things so that valve might actually think about just giving the players the option off the bat. Nobody should be forced to use external tools to change the picmip value to 3 and above if you can remove the limit this easily and doesnt harm anyone, nor should anyone have to use absurd aspect ratios to get the fov they desire. At the very least a command for servers to enable the players to do these things would be enough if it actually is such a big problem for public play (dont see how it is as we have been allowed to have absurd fovs for years now)

I`m sorry but are you on the wrong thread or something ? The problem is that this gives you the possibility to switch fovs during game to something redicilous like 140/150 or low like 40 or bellow [wh ->normal->zoom] with a push of a button. But as LOTS have mentioned before if the fovs would be capped to something like 120 it wouldnt be such a problem. And nice way to adress someone... way to represent the community.
Just because an exploit is there, it doesn\'t mean an AC admin of all people should tell everyone about it.
The thing is, it\'s essentially unprovable and thus being responsible for AC he can\'t really do anything about it. There could have always been people who have been using plugins like these without anyone knowing.
No idea why people are trying to protect Valve in this situation - If they care about this game at all they\'ll most likely fix it. I\'m not sure if you are aware, but you can easily get the fov wallhack by changing your aspect ratio (as seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkv7imlV8EY) anyway. Detecting it also isn\'t as easy as you make it sound - you\'d have to check every single pov demo of the team to make sure the enemy wasn\'t called and during that make sure their camera didn\'t bug out when they died. Since Valve doesn\'t seem to respond to anything other than problems regarding hats the only way to force a reaction seems to be to make this open to everybody.

People have been using ways to get past the picmip and the fov limit the entire time. Pretty sure people have been suggesting it for a really long time as well. Valve never did anything to prevent nor make it easier for everyone, nor has it changed how the game plays out.

Since I haven\'t personally used the plugin yet - Do you still see the fov changing when you watch the POV demo? Since ETF2L forces you to record POV demos you could just check people that way if they\'re suspicious.
