So I scanned a few pages back and noticed people are talking about a heavy \'locking down a point\'. Er... when has this EvEr happened. Heavies get focussed down so easily. It\'s only when you have two of them defending a final cap point that there is ever a problem, and the solution is heavy limit 1.

The issue here is that scouts do not like fighting a heavy, because you can dodge rockets, not the AC. Soldiers don\'t like fighting against a heavy because they can\'t just rocket jump W + mouse 1 towards the enemy team and expect to live. People in this community will always vote against something if they personally do not like playing against, reguardless of it being something that potentially opens up a lot more diversity in strategy. As someone said earlier... i\'m really looking forward to playing the same badlands middle for the 2000th time tonight.

Yes, heavy might \'fractionally slow the game down\', but tf2 isn\'t a game about speed. It never has been. The maps are designed to slow the game down, provide areas where a team can hold a point, while making a team still able to flank from a single direction. If you wanted a faster game, the maps should be designed differently. More routes between cap points etc... The problem is, everyone would call it shit because it would be too difficult to hold anything.

Sentry guns slow the game down, but people don\'t moan about those because they are resonably easy to kill... when you have uber... So you have to sit and build before you push. Also ban the demoman, he slows the game down more than any other class could. If you just had scouts, medics and soldiers, this game would be super fast, and probably really fun... but that\'s not TF2.

In short, stop crying over nothing. So you have to wait to build uber if the enemy is running a heavy. Well you have to wait to build uber if the enemy is running an engineer, a demoman or a good sniper... so what? Oh noess! The heavy can get to middle at the same time as the rest of his team. Again... Oh noes! run a sniper if he causes you too much shit. A single shot on the slowest moving class in the game.

Option 2 sounds pretty neat, but it\'s hard to find maps that are good enough to play. I have to say it\'s easy to find a opponent to play gpit compared to some seasons ago. This is a good thing (well, it\'s not a good thing to practice gpit) if you want to practice that week\'s league maps.
well I guess you\'re right about that but I do think it would be possible to find 3 maps that are good enough.
Also do not forget that the most important thing about a map is that it is actually played. I do remember when badlands was new no team wanted to play it against us, they all said: forget badlands, that map sucks and it\'s not for 6on6 ... now every team plays it and most players love badlands.

I also think there are a lot of maps which haven\'t been really tested by the 6on6 community.
Just one example: CTF-map contest (http://tf2wiki.net/wiki/Competitive_CTF_Contest). I haven\'t played one of these maps and I do think most of us haven\'t even heard about them. Maybe we should give ctf another try with a One-Day-Cup.

I do like gpit and I think it\'s a great map but I don\'t understand why it\'s currently in the mappool. WHY? What\'s in the pool? granlands, gully, freight, (shitty) obscure - they are all pretty much the same. All of them are 5cp-maps and offer little to no variety. Maybe you want to play with a sniper on freight, or use a heavy on gully but that\'s it. Aside from that they all play the same.

gpit is no 5cp map, it\'s totally different to all the other maps in the mappool and actually it makes a huge diffence against whom you have to play gpit - I can\'t choose a map for each opponent like it was some seasons ago so it\'s pure luck. Either you get some team who has never played gpit before (it\'s awfully difficult to find a pcw!) or you have bad luck and end up with an opponent who actually played the map a couple of times.

Don\'t get me wrong: I don\'t want to ban gpit from etf2l! I think it really is a great map because teamplay, communications and so on are far more important on gpit than on 5cp maps.

Imo there are 2 options:
1) make etf2l 5cp-maps only (+ gpit as decider-map)
2) One 5cp-map + something different (e.g. turbine, viaduct, gpit) every week. That way we could bring back some other modes like ctf and introduce new modes like koth. I highly favour option #2.
Allow the GRU, they\'re the best thing that happened to this game since the introduction of custom crosshairs!
The availability argument is just, but think about it: how many more heavies are there really gonna be? There\'s probably already more GRUs around then there are players within the etf2l, moreso hw players. You can even borrow them from teammates for matches with the new trade system.
There\'s really no need to go another season without the heavy being a valueable extra class on all maps.
The GRU are not about needlessly buffing the heavy, they\'re about making him playable competitively again (finally).
Especially since cp_well was removed, there\'s only gravelpit left for him - do we really want the heavy to perish from the game we all love?

still don\'t get why you think we need a ladder at all ... we should try to improve the league and forget about the ladder, imho.

The major challange is to find a way to improve the \"folding-teams problem\". Afaik approximately 30% of the participating teams fold during a season and that\'s way too many.
Solve this problem and you won\'t have the problem to find spots for new teams because there aren\'t like 100 new teams but maybe 10-20.

And keep in mind that it\'s NOT necessary to have perfectly balanced divisions. That\'s just not how a league system works. Take a look at some football divisions, especially amateur divisions.
I still don\'t get why you all think that is what\'s causing the trouble. It\'s not. If some teams really fold because they got bashed then they just don\'t want to play competitive and it\'s no great loss to us if they don\'t participate any more, imo.

I really would like to have more custom maps. Especially ctf maps.

yep. would like to play maps with other gamemodes than 5cp maps too but I guess the tf2 community just don\'t want to play anything that\'s different. cp_well is a great map imho but you just need to play it totally different than badlands or granary... nowadays all the maps which are still played are more or less the same (except gravel). I don\'t know what the plans are for the next seasons but if you wanna go for 5cp maps please delete gravel from the pool. I do like gravel but I don\'t think it makes any sense if you have to play 5 or 6 maps with the same gamemode and one map with a totally different mode... gravel could be used as decider.

But I still hope you bring back some other gamemodes... ctf, maybe even koth.

Possible solutiona for this: Create 2 seperate ladders? 1 High (Div3/2/1) and one low (Div4/5/6) and if you\'re in the bottom X at the end of a month you\'re demoted while the top X on the lower ladder gets promoted?
In my opinion etf2l should forget about the ladder and concentrate on the league system. Many are asking for improvements and changes and the league is etf2l\'s flagship after all.

I do like the league as it is but it\'s way too easy to create a new team, join div2 or 3, fold before the season ends and do the exactly same thing the next season again. That\'s what you should try to fix first, imho.
I don\'t know but I guess you should finally start to punish players and teams for dropping during a season. I thought it is not necessary myself for a long time.
The \"penalty points system\" could work like that:
1) you can\'t create a new team if the sum of the penalty points of the players reach some limit
2) you can\'t add new players if the team penality points + the players points reach the limit
... or something like that.
At least players would have to think about whether the team they want to join is likely to fold and if they really wanna risk the possibility of penalty points.

and something I wanted to mention because I read a lot about placing teams in the \"right\" division:
DON\'T try to find the \"perfect\" division for every team. That\'s just NOT how a league works.
I read that a lot of teams drop because they were destroyed 5-0 in like 10 minutes or something like that... well don\'t join a competetive league if you fold after a defeat. It\'s part of the competitive experience to suffer harsh defeats.

I remember that division5 was introduced as some kind of \"fun\" division... if you really think you need something like that then please make a seperate league for \"fun\" teams where no rules apply and you can play with 6 demoman or whatever you want to do.
