My system is:

Power Supply: LC Power 550w Green Edition
Cpu: AMD Athlon 64 X 2 4800+
Gpu: Gainward 9600 GT 512 mb DDR3
Ram: 3 gb DDR2
MoBo: http://i39.tinypic.com/2cxuql2.jpg

When I run around, it’s about 30-50 FPS. In battles my fps drops to about 10-20.I do not understand why.
Some of my friends who have a pc almost like mine with my own settings have more fps than me.(60 or more)

Do you have a stable Operating System? Runs no cunt in the background where you have nothing? Institutions down, possibly fps config?

( google translator (: )

I’m impressed by the translater, it’s cool.

I have no idea about these things but FPS drops in battles because there is more action, particles, explosions, damage to keep a track of.

Lower your settings and/or upgrade your Graphics card and/or processor. Also, turning off your internet browser when you play can help as well as lowering the resolution you play at.

Try using m0re or Quantum fps config. I saw alot of reactions of people that had good experience with those scripts. Download link: http://m0re.nocrits.com/index.php?site=files&cat=1 or http://www.gotfrag.com/tf2/forums/thread/413619/

As a warning note. It fucked up my graph settings, but you can always revert back to default with -autoconfig in startup command. Or use the link below.

PS: dont click this unless you want your settings removed: steam://runsafe/440

I’d guess the reason for your low fps is your cpu. I had athlon x2 5600+ 2,9 ghz cpu before and I had average fps of 80 in 6v6 with highfps config. Now with my phenom II x4 945 things are a lot better but I think amd cpu’s are much worse in tf2 than intel’s overall:/

You could try one of my gay fps configs if you like, that CPU is doing you no favours.

I tried all cfg’s but the FPS were almost invariable.I think it’s the fault of CPU,maybe if I overclock…

TF2 is more based on CPU power than graphics power, this is a known fact. Your cpu is very poor compared to the rest (in ratio) to running TF2 smoothly.

If you can overclock your cpu at a safe voltage increase such that it won’t overheat then do so, you should notice a dramatic improvement.

Also, switch to directx 8.1 and enable multicore rendering when i did these things just to get a comparison I got on average 85fps more….

If you need to know how to do that then pm me on irc.

A lot of the problem however is with tf2 itself and my fps has become significant worse with each update.

I find this cfg http://www.gotfrag.com/tf2/forums/thread/322476/ now it’s about 30-70 FPS,not a great improvement but at least I can play better.Maybe the next month I will buy a new CPU.
Thanks, guys! :P
