Hello ladies and gentlemen!

Meltdown are a series of eSports bars located around Europe, and they’ve finally opened one up in London, UK.

You can play some games there, watch streams of pro-gaming tournaments, and get incredibly drunk with like-minded people!

We will be looking to work with them at some point to bring some live TF2 commentary directly from the bar, or showing some TF2 on their screens when there aren’t any major tournaments on.

Anyway, their opening is on JUNE 1st, starting at 7pm. Go there and show your support, mingle around, and mention TF2 as much as possible!

Address:

342 Caledonian Road, London
(short walk from King’s Cross or Caledonian Road underground stations).

To receive updates about our progress and all the details of our launch party you can like their Facebook page:

I would like to open my own one of these, but don’t know how financially viable it would be as a business

Theres a bar in my city that runs FIFA and Street Fighter tournaments on a big projector thats popular.

I think you can only really get away with it if you offer a videogame night (on a slow day) rather than going all out eSports, as there are plenty of people who will not want to go to that bar. A full eSports bar will alienate a huge percentage of your potential customers.

my plan would be have sections, like console couch area, internet cafe style area, and a hardcore gaming are more towards the back. Hold tournaments, stream live, drinks etc. The whole thing would be win or loose purely on its location though i think.

yeah, you’d have to go somewhere where kids cant afford to have their own pc’s i guess
(i mean, why would you go to a pub to play games (and be social :s) when you can do so at home?)

You’re not gonna get a lot of women in there.

Its a nice idea, The thing with is is, its grown off the back of the Barcraft scene. So there is a lot of interest in somewhere dedicated to this. So far only Meltdown have launched an eSports bar successfully. The other attempts either closed down or turned into internet cafes, mostly for the same reason you’re seeing pubs in the Uk turning into restaurants as well, Its just not that profitable.
