Little known factoid: The PS1 was originally made by Sony FOR Nintendo, as an add-on disc drive for the N64. Nintendo decided they didn’t want it after all so Sony tweaked it and released the Playstation, which went on to rape Nintendo in the ass until Wii and DS.

So ermm, gg Nintendo. I wonder if the exec that made that decision is still under the employ of Nintendo…

Even so though, the cool kids may have been playing with stations, but those that understood gaming were happy with their N64’s and Gamecube’s.

I actually had N64 and was quiet happy with it. It still works perfectly today, gj Nintendo.

Yeah it was meant to be a CD add-on for the SNES, not the N64. The N64 did try to compete with optical media based systems with the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_64DD%5DN64 DD

While we’re on the subject, the actual “PSX” :D

It takes some design cues from Sony’s legendary ES series equipment: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1344/1254207778_b09202c9d0_o.jpg http://www.audioscope.net/images/sonytaf770esc1.jpg … I think it was meant to be marketed as a high end device that could also play games, so an AV-equipment form-factor was more appropriate (also cooling lol)

I wish i hadn’t sold my SNES back in the day.

For anyone interested OSX natively supports SIXAXIS Controllers via bluetooth, I still sometime hook the macbook up to the TV and play old SNES games though SNES9x emulator.

I had a PS1 and an N64 and I loved both.

Yes, it was the http://www.consoledatabase.com/consoleinfo/snescdromSNES[/url], I keep forgetting how old I am… :/

I also loved my SNES, N64 and ‘Cube, never really felt my PS2 but some great games were released in the end.

Commodore Amiga is still my favourite gaming thing of all time though, that thing was a beast :D

WTF PS2 is one of the sickest platforms ever… The list of legendary games is endless, accompanied by an incredible mass of decent to very good games. (and it also runs my probably favourite console game ever, God Hand)

Nintendo hit the sweetspot with the SNES (possibly best platform ever) never got it right after the N64. A few good titles (mostly updated versions of old IPs) don’t make a great system.

Never had any of these console thingies apart from my megadrive and dreamcast, been a pc gamer since warcraft 1, consoles are shit tbh.

In other little know game facts, starcraft and warcraft were made by blizzard for games workshop as an rts intending to represent warhammer and 40k. Games workshop decided they wouldnt be succesful and canned them. Blizzard continued to work on them and there you are, 2 of the most successful game franchises of all time
