What makes a good avatar?

Hello, ive been looking to make an avatar for my team, but i just cant find any inspiration at all!
So. What do u guys think makes a good avatar? Like coulours, symbols and all that.
Throw some inspiration in my face please!
Im kinda going for a “similar avatar for all members” kinda thing.

Nice colour gradient w/ an overlay does it for me, also I like it when logos incorporate the thing they are representing directly (like with one of my old teams, http://etf2l.org/avatars/groups/8782.jpg )

From seeing a lot of recent avatars – one thing that doesn’t make a good avatar is just finding a shit font on somewhere like dafont.com and overlaying a colour onto it.

Your team’s name has a number of obvious ideas which one could use. Sometimes the best avatar is a visual representation which isn’t the obvious idea, but is fun and effective.

If you’re struggling for ideas, brain storm anything in your head down on paper. Use a thesaurus to look at similar words to the ones in your team’s name. Be creative and don’t sit there starting into space. If you get a pen, some paper, you can easily sketch some stuff down. It’ll probably be shit mostly, but you’ll find something you like.
