DVD/RW on laptop not working

Hello guys, my dvd/rw on my laptop is not working for no reason, it just stopped working for no apparent reason…I try to inject dvd or cd and it cant be read, I don’t know if I can even replace it, my old laptop is asus m50v
Try to clean the lens with a really soft (dustfree) tissue. This fixed it for my fathers laptop, which had the same problem.
clean what, its laser?

Yep the lens of the laser, if there is a bit of dust on it, the laser gets distorted (if that is the correct English word).
