Okay, I will add the minmode version this weekend most likely. I’m going to be mostly gone for university over the next few days, but I should be back on Friday I believe.

Hey! Firstly, great HUD I’m enjoying using it. But there are a couple of things I think it needs/would be nice to change. I would do the following things myself but I have no idea how to as I’ve never played around with HUDs before.

1) Currently the health goes yellow and gets a red flashing background when you reach half HP. I think changing it to yellow text on half HP and then getting a flashing red background on a quarter HP would make it easier to know my health at a glance. At the moment I find myself thinking I’m really low on health because of the flashing background when I actually have like 80-100 (as soldier). I think with yellow text on half HP and then introduce the flashing background on quarter HP would communicate the player’s health better.

2) Maybe my HUD is broken but the class-pick menu is still the default one. It would be nice if it was small and transparent like on some other HUDs.

3) Sometimes my health meter/numbers will get stuck on being yellow, this hardly ever happens so isn’t a big problem but again it’s a little glitch that would be nice if it got fixed.

4) The chat box is too low on the left hand side, I think it would be easier to glance at if it was moved towards or even put in the middle of the left hand side.

This HUD definitely has the potential to become “the” HUD that everyone uses, a lot like broesel’s. It just needs a few little things to be ironed out, the main ones (in my opinion) being the ones I’ve listed above.

please make it a different HUD or some kind of swap-these-files.

I bet a lot of people like to switch between 6v6 and pub scoreboard, where in comparision the amout of people who would swap between completely different looking HUDs ingame would be very close to 0.

I don’t think this is possible.

It’s the default one for now. I may or may not change it in the future.

Not possible, to my knowledge. It will fix itself whenever a health colour change is triggered. Bind “hud_reloadscheme” to a key if it bothers you too much.

I placed and sized the chat box in such a way that it does not overlap with any other elements on a 16:9 aspect ratio. You can move it up in BaseChat.res if you’d like, but expect some overlap if you spectate a highlander game.

#1 and #3 I don’t think I can fix. #2 and #4 are nonissues.

This has actually crossed my mind and there are two ways to look at it…

1) The user perspective. As you said, not many people would realistically be swapping between minimal mode and the normal version, while some people do switch between the 6v6 scoreboard and the 12v12 scoreboard. Therefore, it’s definitely more user-friendly to keep the minmode scoreboard toggle.

2) My perspective. For obvious reasons, I don’t want to have two separate versions. It will mean I have to make all changes twice, or keep an up-to-date patch file, both of which seem strenuous. Furthermore, I personally do not use the 6v6 scoreboard and think it is worse for numerous reasons. A side-by-side scoreboard makes it easier to compare the status of the two teams, and having a consistent scoreboard means you know immediately where to glance when pressing tab to check something. Also, having a standalone 6v6 scoreboard is a lot easier to maintain than a minmode one, for a couple of reasons I will not get into.

As it stands now, it’s either no minmode HUD or no scoreboard toggle, unless you want to manually change the files each time.

You can find it in resource/ui/Teammenu.res in the same HUD link you just posted.

Minmode version is ready, along with some other minor changes. You’ll now have to choose permanently between the default scoreboard and the 6v6 one, as the cl_hud_minmode toggle is used for the placement/size of health/ammo. If you really want to change scoreboards, you’ll have to replace the files each time.
