Sir

Just doing this for the _NEW_ clans who are _NOT_ aware of mIRC. http://www.mirc.com <– mIRC homepage where you can download the client.

This program is widely used across the gaming “scene” and probably/is the best way to get in contact with people from other teams.

Once you’ve downloaded the correct version (different language versions for download). Then connect to a QUAKENET.ORG server, do not choose GAMESURGE.NET that is for the Americans, unless youre a pandemic fan boy. Upon connection you’ll be prompted to join a few rooms.

Here’s a few rooms off the top of my head to join which are nice and full of people from the TF2 scene.

Places to idle:

#etf2l
#pixeltf2.pickup
#tf.wars

These 3 are probably the best places to idle if youre looking for your opponent. Most teams have their own IRC room which youll be able to find under the team lists on this website.

I cannot stress enough how much it is needed for getting in contact with people, a lot of people will not bother if they cannot get hold of the team theyre meant to be playing.

If anyone else can elaborate on this a bit better than me, than go ahead :p, was just a quick something off the top of head whilst I was waiting for my breakfast ^^.

P.S. Quick mixes can be found on http://www.tf2lobby.com. (TF2Lobby).

Ou nice :)

for czech dudes, there is small info about irc/quakenet: http://www.2fort.cz/news.php?readmore=123

if you are lost, especially focus on this: http://www.mirc.cz/modules.php?name=FAQ&myfaq=yes&id_cat=1&categories=IRC

From czech channels you can pick on of those:

#tf2.cz – “czech community of TF2”
#slum – “steam; generally”
#esl.tf2 – “no comment ;))”

The other clients I usually list if someone ask for advice
mIRC – http://www.mirc.org/
Xchat – http://www.xchat.org/
Pidgin – http://www.pidgin.im/
Qip – http://qipim.com/en/

I’m sure all the Finns already know about the greatest Finnish invention ever, IRC. Here’s a few useful Finnish TF2 channels:

#tf2.fi
#thematsi

RobbaZ

[FADER]

In general, just take #tf2. and add your nation’s abbreviation. #tf2.se, #tf2.fi and so on :)

Sir

Can just keep filling this up with useful irc rooms for your countries. Try not to spam clan channels 8].

Any more elaboration from others is welcome, it all helps.

Sry but it seems I’m too stupid for this program.

How do I connect to a channel?
If I start mirc it asks about my registration. Eiter click “Register” or “Continue”. I click continue, then a window called “mirc options” opens. Server is Quakenet: Random Server. I click connect, then commands, then Join channel, I type in #etf2l, and it says “Register first”. But on the mirc-hp theres something standing that it costs 20$ to register mirc. I thought this program is for free?

Can someone help me out with this? I remember I could once join the channel without registering.

mIRC is not Freeware/Opensource program. So after 30days after installation you are asked to provide code / register your installation. You can continue to use mIRC after this period but there will be anoying pop-up everytime.

So to avoid it, use any other Freewares instead mIRC. HydraIRC/Xchat might be the right ones. But XCHAT is freeware only for Linux/OSX ….wor win32 version it is same as for mIRC.

well tbh the popup isnt that annoying, its only when you setup mIRC, afterwards there are no problems anymore :)

imho freeware/gnu/oss/fss softwares are always better option
xchat/mirc are not so good as they seems to…
… and recommend people to use programs after the trial period is quite like “go warez”.

“Try before Buy” is very good motto, but when it ends just only with the “Try” and never “buy”…. this is just simply stealing and disrespecting the developers of mIRC or xchat or any other software.

no offense, no flame….
cheers
