hello, it appears you’ve not at all understood what this tool does. bye.

Hello, it appears you haven’t understood that that question was about the 2:1 aspect ratio and not actually about the tool which blackens out the desktiop. bye.

O_O so how much relative FOV does this give you?

nice context you’ve given there, really helped

Above 1:12 the menu gets so small that you cant change map… got on a bball server though somehow: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2447457/2011-03-10_00009.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2447457/2011-03-10_00007.jpg

Looking down you see the entire map.

for a less inefficient way you may want to look into windows messages

keso

How is this inefficient?

Btw, (now that it’s out there anyway :P) jaeger put up a little formula to calculate your fov a long while ago… I’m such a mathematical dimwit that I can’t even get the proper answer out of it though xD (with wolfram alpha)

fov_desired changes horizontal fov but the game ensures constant vertical fov at different aspec ratios so first we determine our vertical fov at 4:3

verticalFov = 2 * atan( tan( 90/2 ) * 3/4 )
verticalFov =~ 73.74 degress

horizontalFov = 2 * atan( tan( verticalFov/2 ) * aspectRatio )
horizontalFov @ 5:4 =~ 86.3 degrees
horizontalFov @ 4:3 = 90 degrees
horizontalFov @ 16:10 =~ 100.39 degress
horizontalFov @ 16:9 =~ 106.26 degress

TwistedPlay.

I used to use a resolution like this and had to have a black desktop and taskbar on hide all the time so I went back to normal, pretty tempted to use it again.

I’m glad I’m bad enough at TF2 to validate playing the game without having to take 5 math-courses first. :>

Chris, you should leave the tf2 scene more often

Next time use the same vertical resolution for every screenshot… better comparison ;)

edit: fucking photobucket resizing my shit… fail.
