Hi all just a quick ask for those advanced HUD developers out there, I’ve managed to fix everything myself with positioning fonts n yada yada yada one thing I can’t seem to figure out is this…

http://i56.tinypic.com/29asjzt.jpg

Bottom right, the text is cut, yes I know i can move it down, but I don’t want it so close to the bar, it seems like there is a “panel” there which has been defined as “x” and y” but I can’t seem to find such a thing…

It’s the same for ammo numbers or anything that goes in that bottom corner…. used have more height you could position the text/icon etc…

Anyone with any ideas please let me know!

Cheers

You can see all panels by putting sv_cheats 1 then vgui_drawtree 1 in console, ticking ‘highlight selected’ is very helpful for identifying panels.

G-Mang

Did you try raising the element’s position (and possibly also increasing its height) in hudlayout and then lowering all the daughter elements’ positions accordingly?

I don’t even have a HudLayout.res in the resources folder or ui folder or scripts folder!

That could be why then G-Mang? I..e if its not defined then it uses the default size?

If i create a HudLayout.res and I only define say the MedicCharge do I have to define the rest or will it remain as valve default size too?

Cheers

hudlayout.res > HudWeaponAmmo
Change wide and tall settings

Pick the default hudlayout.res using gcfScape and just change what you need leaving the rest as it is.

This might be wrong because I learned how to do it through trial and error pretty much, but it works for me.

It’s easy if you use default hud, otherwise you need to copy/paste the elements in yourself. Download a hud crosshair from somewhere. You’ll need to find the appropriate settings (usually “Crosshair”) under ///Fonts/// in the clientscheme.res you downloaded, and copy all the layers you want over to your own clientscheme.res. Make sure you backup your old one before doing so.

You’ll then need to copy over the same stuff in hudlayout.res into your own hudlayout.res.

You then need to adjust settings based on your resolution (xpos, ypos, tall, wide) to get it the right size and in the centre of your screen.

For more info look at http://ozfortress.com/showthread.php?t=39640 and http://www.gotfrag.com/tf2/forums/thread/437115/ has all the info you need.

Oh and make sure to install any custom fonts needed, or it won’t work.

Btw, if you want to make your own hud crosshair it’s pretty time consuming so I wouldn’t bother. Just steal someone else’s/ask them to upload it.

I had that, it’s not as good to play with as you think it is, I will see if I still got it in backup .

It was made for me by SteveyJJ, I use default HUD at 1280×800 with a few movements of the HP and ammo as shown above, it SHOULD work with over default huds, you might just need to move the lines around.

I’ve only tried it with Flames hud and it didn’t work with it, so not sure about other huds, but it might do.

There’s a readme enclosed with a zip file, it contains my HUD as it was made for my HUD, I think just giving you the the files that have been modified can ruin the whole xhair completely.

as gmang said, it’s very complicated and time consuming.

sorry to gate crash this thread but I have a HUD problem right now after installing gmang HUD update, the controll points status bar is oversized itself, in otherwords, its too large. Anone know what I need to edit to get that back to normal size? and yes….I forgot to backup files
