I suggest players looking for more fps should try enabling the multi-core cvars found under the threading part of chris’ configs to make better use of your multi core CPUs however, not all are stable on all systems but its worth trying out.

cl_threaded_bone_setup 1 // should give you an extra 10~ fps, potentially unstable
cl_threaded_client_leaf_system 1 //should give you another 5~ fps, potentially unstable

Chris is knowledgeable about the source engine but isn’t up-to-date.
However, what you said may be true on some systems.

I’ve been trying to find new cvars and tweaks since Chris isn’t maintaining anymore and the big summer update significantly lowered fps for a lot of people myself included.

If your so keen to dispense advice may I suggest you get another tf2 account with everything set to default and build fps config line by line and change each setting & test impact, using chris’s configs as a base if you wish.

To find all the current tf2 cvars, status & defaults, start up tf2 go to console type clear and enter to get rid of your start up spam then type cvarlist and enter
