?

it’s a straightforward 1on1 map.
no bs waiting to spawn, no bs health kits, no bs obstacles. it’s a head on collision, which (imo) is exactly what 1on1 should be about.

true story
wiskas is stupid.
random spawning behind me
healthpack
stupid layout

WildCard

Considering the prize money is being put up by the map maker i find it unlikely he would want to play this cup on a different map.

AnimaL

i like the map

if you want duel2 layout, go play mge on badlands mid

Ok its dm map

Should i explain u what dm is in other games?

If you’re comparing your map to the likes of the DM maps in the most popular DM games (I’m using quake as an example here) you are completely on the wrong train.

In quake, the maps do not only require the players to be constantly on their toes, they also need to know the map inside and out. Let me do a short summary here:

Quake 1on1
Knowledge – item timing, damage done, damage taken, knowing when to back out/go for it.
Aim/movement – straightforward.
Improvisation and quick thinking – doing something completely unexpected to catch your opponent off guard.
Precision – knowing that one missed item or one small mishap can change the pace of the whole game.
Arsenal – you have a lot more than three guns available to you, each specialising in certain situations

TF2 1on1 (on whiskas)
Aim/movement – straightforward
Running to the water when you kill your opponent, as the spawn times are TOO LONG

Sorry. There is no comparison between TF2 DM and “dm in other games”. There just isn’t. All you do in TF2 DM is aim and move, which is why it’s TEAM fortress 2 – it requires a helluva lot more teamwork than it does individual skill. I’m not saying duel_duel2_pro measures up to the likes of an intense battle between rapha and dahang on bloodrun, but it certainly levels out the playing field in terms of a 1on1 scout situation.

(I’m not a HUGE quake player, so forgive me if anything said is wrong/inaccurate. Holy shit, wall of text. I feel like Arx)

WOOOOO!

I agree with shintaz. Quake DM has alot more depth you’ll never get in tf2 regardless the map. The item spawns and mapcontrol is huge whereas in a 1on1 scout duel there is no need for map control. The medpack in the water is the closest thing you’ve got to that and yet it’s just a death trap if you’re opponent is up so yeah… May aswell use duel_duel2. Tbh though a newer map would be nice that actually makes movement more of a key skill. duel_duel2 is just adadadadadada; there are no props to use. This is the only advantage whiskas has, yet even whiskas is too short on obstacles to warrant it’s use. (Unlike shintaz I’d like more enviroment/props to dodge around and use. It’s another aspect of skill to use the map properly and to have the awareness to outplay your opponent)

If you’re on the wrong train, chances are you’re playing badlands.
