The Highlander Mix-up Match (fun while it lasted)
November 20, 2010
Stay tuned to ETF2L for STV demos and VODs!
It has been a while, but now it is finally time to bring you the event you have all been waiting for. The ETF2L Highlander Community Challenge which tries to find the best community team of TF2 has seen over a thousand signups and an exciting group stage. The tournament is now down to 256 teams who will face off in a straight knock-out cup. The perfect time for one of the most the most unique all-star matches in the history of competitive TF2.
Ashkan and ETF2L will be bringing you a 9v9 highlander match that defines the good relations between the public and competitive communities, and the TF2 developers. In this match, experienced competitive players, Pubbers and Valve Employees will be pitted into two groups and fight for eternal glory and your pleasure.
Besides watching the game through SourceTV you can tune in to our live coverage of the event by ETF2L Radio & lvl^up tv. For those of you who are at work or looking for an easier way to follow this match, they will be providing a live video-stream as well. Casting for you will be none other then
Byte, highlander hero
And then, without warning, and
Exfane . In addition to that our
German followers can check out tfportal.de for a cast in their native language. While fans of
A_spec can travel to H2Ktv for their live streaming dose. Be sure to check back on the Wednesday the 24th for further details on what will be a great and hopefully undisturbed spectacle of Team Fortress 2.

November 20th, 2010 at 22:17
It’s really too bad Don Newman, probably the better known Pyro in North America, didn’t get chosen for NA’s representative.
Oh well, should be fun anyways :)

“don’t forget to fix dos vulnerability before the game actually stats that time :D”
lol, its not anything you can “fix” with a patch. as long as something has an ip, it can be attacked
November 22nd, 2010 at 09:43
Linus, you can just block all connections except allowed ips for match time.
November 22nd, 2010 at 19:39
Valve items allowed? xD
November 22nd, 2010 at 20:11

November 24th, 2010 at 23:06
Too bad about the network attacks, but I had fun anyway. :D
November 24th, 2010 at 23:08
@linus: ‘lol, its not anything you can “fix” with a patch. as long as something has an ip, it can be attacked’
dos isn’t just spamming icmp requests, it can come from a very wide range of different ways
last time, they seemed to have use a rcon auth exploit:
Fixed a server crash caused by spamming the server with invalid rcon passwords
this time ‘they’ seemed to have spammed pros then switch to just spam stvs :/
ruined again :/
November 24th, 2010 at 23:11
of course i didnt mean just icmp. :)
November 24th, 2010 at 23:53
It was ok for most of us during badwater. All our relays got attacked, I think the same happened to Multiplays.
Viqun, Sneis and Darn got flooded off the net, had to change IPs to get back online.
Still, badwater was a lot of fun, and no cheating by the Valve team that I could tell :)
November 25th, 2010 at 00:46
any STVs plx? :[
November 25th, 2010 at 00:49
Results?
November 25th, 2010 at 01:09
It was all Linus, I’m telling you, he’s the real culprit
But other than that, fun badwater game :)
November 25th, 2010 at 01:18
i owned yall with my beastly 192kbit upload
November 25th, 2010 at 03:55
Yeah did anyone get a demo for this? Don’t wanna ask on the steam forums for risk of ‘use the search button’ despite myself doing exactly this…
November 25th, 2010 at 07:04
awesome fun :p
November 25th, 2010 at 15:59
Was a good game on Badwater, shame some kids had to ruin it. GGs.
