Phew! We can breathe again! It’s safe to say that ETF2L Season 7 has been our most exciting and close yet, culminating in a fantastic finish on Sunday with 3 teams all competing for the coveted title. However, only one team could emerge victorious, and after a thrilling match against Netherlands FakkelBrigade, team European I Don’t Know?  have been crowned Champions of Europe! Those who come 2nd are often forgotten, but in this case European TCM-Gaming deserve to be remembered for a great performance throughout Season 7. Finishing only 1 point behind idk? after beating Germany The Last Resort in their final match, they walk away with 6 SteelSeries Kinzu mice.

ETF2L SteelSeries Season 7 Award Nominations

With Season 7 coming to an end it’s now time for our famous ETF2L awards. Once again the community will vote to decide what players and teams will pick up a series of awards, ranging from best individual players to the team with the greatest sportsmanship. Make sure you contribute and support your favourite teams and players by voting in the Nomination Forum, but please read the rules first!

ESH Cup: The Western Digital Challenge

Our fantastic friends over at Esports Heaven are back with another brilliant TF2 Cup to get stuck into now that Season 7 has finished! They have listened to the feedback the TF2 community has given and consequently have introduced a Group Stage into the Cup to ensure that even if you aren’t likely to win the €250 cash prize, you will still be able to play multiple games! With 128 slots, it’s the perfect way to have some fun and support the TF2 community, so please sign up!

Group Stages start tomorrow, so check out the tournament page on the ESH website for more details.

Season 8 Playoffs

Playoffs for teams at the top and bottom of their respective Divisions will begin shortly to determine seedings for the upcoming Season 8. For those teams that are equal on points with other teams in playoff positions, there are some ‘pre-playoffs’ matches that will need to be played before Sunday 2nd May. All other regular playoff matches will need to be completed by Sunday 9th May.

Some of these playoff matches will be very exciting, including the game between European Special attack and Spain Mister to decide who will be promoted into Division 1 of Season 8.

Fixtures for these playoffs can be found here, so please ensure you check if you are playing.

ETF2L Season 8 Dates

Just like you, we’re eager to start  our next Season as soon as possible. We are therefore pleased to announce that Season 8 will kick off in mid-May, with final dates to be released soon. Stay tuned to ETF2L.org to keep up to date with all the Season 8 news.

Admin Applications

Running ETF2L is a hugely fun and rewarding job, and as we continue to expand we’re looking for more volunteers to join our Staff to maintain the high standard ETF2L has come to represent for TF2 competitions. We will shortly be reviewing the last batch of applications so if you applied you will be hearing from us soon, but if you didn’t apply and are still interested in helping out, then please speak to an Admin in #etf2l.

Sadly we have to announce 2 recent bans within our ETF2L community. We can only warn you again that people who choose to try and gain an unfair advantage or bypass our rules will be caught, so don’t do it!

    If the choice is between starting in 2 weeks and having a 5 month break I think the better option is to get started now.
    I’m not sure how well TF2 would be doing after 5 months of inactivity – especially considering the other popular fps games crank the activity up during the summer.

    You kids realise that there are things to do besides gaming the rest of the year as well right? If we take a break now the breaks going to probably have to near 4-5 months. If you don’t want to start now why would you want to start in june or july? Too soon or too far, and the reasons for too soon seem pretty dumb. Exams are fair enough but you can compete in a league and still take a step back. If you can’t find an hour a week to play an official during an exam period I feel sorry for you o.O.

    Also when do rosters get unlocked. It’s kind of dumb D:.

    Might be worth rethinking the format for Summer period?

    Maybe just go for a series of 1-3 day cups (with group stages like new ESH?!), so people can choose to play some weeks and go on holiday other weeks?

    Or go for the traditional league format, but make a “league week” last for two weeks? More time to play around exams and sunshine… lord knows I need to work my tan!

    Series of cups sounds like a great idea. A cup trialing all the potential candidates for a new S8 map could be good.
    I know MNM basically does this but might be nice to have them all in one cup, maybe with group stages so everyone gets to play them a few times
